About the Role

Reports to: Manager of Information Systems
The Longy School of Music seeks an experienced IT and enterprise systems professional to support critical administrative and academic operations through the management, integration, and optimization of institutional systems. This role is responsible for maintaining and enhancing systems related to faculty payroll, student information, identity and access management, and enterprise data reporting, with a strong focus on system reliability, data integrity, and operational efficiency.
As Longy prepares to go live on a new student information system, Jenzabar One (J1), this position will play a key role in supporting implementation, stabilization, and ongoing operations across both J1 Desktop and J1 Web. The position works collaboratively with stakeholders across Information Technology, Academic Affairs, Finance, and Admissions, and contributes significantly to system modernization initiatives, enterprise integrations with third‑party platforms, and ongoing technical support. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, a problem‑solving mindset, and the ability to translate business and functional requirements into effective, secure, and scalable technical solutions.
Responsibilities
- Administer user accounts, groups, policies, and devices across Windows server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and related services.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate routine administrative tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Manage and configure Windows environments using PowerShell, including file systems, services, and user access controls.
- Support cloud‑based and hybrid infrastructure components, integrating on‑premises systems with Microsoft 365, Azure, and other cloud services.
- Assist with the management of cloud‑based network infrastructure, including Cisco Meraki environments.
- Maintain, support, and refine student account provisioning processes developed to enable enterprise system integrations.
- Monitor integration performance and troubleshoot provisioning issues, implementing improvements to support long‑term stability and scalability.
- Support data conversion and migration efforts by writing SQL queries to analyze, troubleshoot, and validate converted data.
- Maintain, support, and incrementally enhance custom faculty payroll calculations implemented in Jenzabar One, ensuring ongoing accuracy, compliance, and reliability.
- Review and refine existing Argos reports, queries, and scripts written in T‑SQL and PL/SQL, modernizing logic where appropriate and improving performance and maintainability.
- Maintain and extend existing database objects—including tables, stored procedures, and scripts—to support evolving payroll and reporting needs.
- Support and enhance user interfaces by maintaining FormFlow forms and related workflows within JICS.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve payroll system, data, and reporting issues, working collaboratively with functional and technical stakeholders to implement durable solutions.
- Produce ad‑hoc, operational, and analytical reports to support academic, administrative, and IT decision‑making.
- Respond to evolving reporting and data requests with accuracy, clear documentation, and attention to data governance best practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of institutional reporting, system documentation, and technical workflows.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining SQL queries in enterprise environments, including proficiency with T‑SQL and the ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and validate complex data sets.
- Hands-on experience administering Active Directory, including user and group management, permissions, Group Policy, and identity lifecycle workflows.
- Strong experience developing and maintaining PowerShell scripts to automate administrative tasks, manage Windows environments, and support system integrations.
- Experience managing and supporting Windows server environments, including file systems, services, and access controls.
- Working knowledge of user provisioning and account management in hybrid environments integrating on‑premises systems with Microsoft 365 and Exchange.
- Experience supporting enterprise application systems and integrations, including collaborating with internal stakeholders and third‑party vendors.
- Ability to troubleshoot system, data, and integration issues, analyze root causes, and implement reliable, well‑documented solutions.
- Experience producing ad‑hoc and operational reports, with strong attention to data accuracy, documentation, and governance best practices.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate functional requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, respond to evolving requirements, and support continuous improvement of systems and workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Jenzabar One (J1), including J1 Desktop and J1 Web, or comparable higher education student information systems.
- Experience with Argos, Infomaker, Banner, JICS, or FormFlow forms.
- Experience supporting data conversion or system implementation projects, particularly post‑go‑live stabilization and ongoing optimization.
- Higher education or similarly complex organizational IT experience.
Education
Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent experience
Certifications in Security+, CNNA, Network+ or Azure Admin Associate preferred.
