About the Role

 

SUMMARY

The System Administrator maintains enterprise systems, performs upgrades, troubleshoots issues, monitors performance, and recommends improvements. This role collaborates with business owners to manage software/services, conducts user access reviews, tracks hardware/software versions, coordinates vendor access and upgrades, and supports Microsoft 365 administration. The position requires strong PowerShell scripting skills and focuses on reliable system operation, security, and emerging technology awareness.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Installs, configures, and maintains server hardware/software, PCs, applications, printers, and virtual desktop/server environments.

Provides tier-2 support for user and system issues, responding to access and software questions.

Develops, communicates, and enforces standards for system use, operations, and data security.

Coordinates hardware, software, support, and training vendors; facilitates third-party maintenance and access.

Installs, tests, and deploys software upgrades in partnership with business units.

Evaluates system/software requirements and capabilities; makes recommendations for improvements.

Administers Microsoft 365 services and supports application security (role-based access implementation preferred).

Performs daily server maintenance, including security patching, log monitoring, configuration changes, and backups.

Troubleshoots and resolves system-related problems.

Designs, implements, and integrates data technologies using PowerShell scripting (strongly preferred).

Actively participates in change control, disaster recovery, and contingency plan discussions and updates; participates in periodic testing.

Prepares reports on system usage, performance, and reliability as requested.

Assists with IT budget preparation.

Maintains in-depth knowledge of Windows operating systems, TCP/IP, HTTPS, SFTP, and emerging technologies.

May supervise or mentor less experienced staff and participate in special projects.

Operates standard office equipment and performs other duties as assigned.

Performs duties as assigned by management and may be assigned to work at any branch.


QUALIFICATIONS

 

The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the essential functions of this position.


Education and Experience 

Four years of related work experience in system administration, network infrastructure design, communications, security hardware/software, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Thorough knowledge of voice and data networking technologies typically gained through four years of progressively responsible experience.


Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

MCP, MCSA, or equivalent certification preferred.


Knowledge

Strong working knowledge of Windows operating systems, TCP/IP, and Internet services (HTTPS, SFTP, etc.).

Proficiency in computer systems and software relevant to enterprise administration.

Preferred: Advanced PowerShell scripting for automation and administration.


Other Skills and Abilities

Operates a variety of office equipment and machines.

Travels, attends, and participates in meetings, seminars, and conferences held before and after normal business hours that may require unaccompanied long-distance travel and overnight lodging.

Ability to work a variety of hours, including evenings and weekends.
