Job Summary
We're looking for an IT Support Specialist to join our team and be the first line of defense for our end users across multiple businesses. You'll handle day-to-day support tickets, help administer our Microsoft 365 environment, work with virtualized Windows and Linux servers, and keep networks and systems running smoothly.
This role primarily uses remote support software, but you'll also be on the road within the Phoenix metro area when tickets require hands-on work - deploying new computers, troubleshooting on-site, or setting up new users at a client location.
More important than any specific skill: you're the kind of person who doesn't wait to be spoon-fed answers. Hand you a problem, and you go find the solution - docs, forums, AI tools, whatever it takes. You treat "I don't know yet" as a starting point, not an ending.
You'll work directly under the Director of IT with real mentorship, real ownership, and real growth as we scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tier 1 and tier 2 support to end users across multiple companies - hardware, software, accounts, printers, peripherals
- Travel to client locations within the Phoenix metro area as needed to install, deploy, and troubleshoot on-site
- Help implement, manage, and support our Microsoft 365 environment (user provisioning, licensing, Teams, SharePoint, Exchange Online, Intune basics)
- Work with virtual machines across both Windows Server and Linux - spin up, maintain, troubleshoot, patch
- Troubleshoot Windows, macOS, and Linux at the workstation and server level
- Set up new hire workstations, manage asset inventory, handle offboarding
- Assist with basic network troubleshooting - Wi-Fi, VPN, switches, DNS, DHCP
- Document solutions and build out our internal knowledge base
- Use AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, etc.) as part of your daily problem-solving toolkit
- Escalate complex issues appropriately - with a clear writeup of what you've already tried
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- 1–4 years of IT support experience (help desk, MSP, or internal IT); take full ownership of your tickets
- Solid Microsoft 365 / Entra ID experience - or a strong willingness to learn fast
- Hands-on experience with virtual machines on both Windows Server and Linux (Hyper-V, VMware, Proxmox, VirtualBox - any of the above)
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Wi-Fi)
- Comfortable at the command line in both PowerShell and bash
- Basic familiarity with AI tools for research, scripting help, and troubleshooting
- Clear written and verbal communication; you can communicate clearly with non-technical users
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for local travel
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (MS-900)
- Active Directory / Intune / endpoint management experience
- Ticketing system experience (Freshservice, Jira, Zendesk, etc.)
- Scripting beyond basics (PowerShell, bash, Python)
- Any homelab experience - we love people who break things on their own time
