About the Role

JOB SUMMARY: 
The Information Technology Support Specialist (ITSS) is responsible for IT-related activities for Excell Brands. This will include set up and troubleshooting issues and providing support for Excell Brands employees and system users. Will work on-site at our corporate headquarters at 5501 Park Ave. Des Moines, IA 50321. The office hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Possible over time and on-call time may be required. 


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates degree in information technology preferred or 2 + years of equivalent experience in an IT support role.
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to easily read and understand complex documents and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in IT and network principles and ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to a varied audience.
  • Experience with: Active Directory Administration / Microsoft 365 Administration / Microsoft Dynamics GP / Aruba Networking / Fortinet Firewalls / Microsoft SQL Server / Windows Server Administration is highly preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:

  • Serves as first contact for support and IT requisitions and requests.
  • Assists in providing ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting for the desktop environment, including desktop hardware and software (Warehouse Edge, GP, Office, etc.)
  • Ensure that all new users have proper setup and security for needed software and applications.
  • Provides troubleshooting and IT support for all hardware systems such as printers, phones, tablets, handhelds, copiers, etc. 
  • Coordinates with outside vendors to support a variety of warehouse control systems and IT related issues and topics to ensure critical systems remain operational
  • Coordinates the needs of all team members and provides technology coaching for those team members who are experiencing technical issues.
  • Participates in evaluating new technology that is available and makes recommendations to management in adopting and implementing new technology.
  • Carries out a specific list of recurring information technology infrastructure related tasks which includes maintaining physical desktops and laptops, antivirus, backups, ensure sensitive data is protected using encryption, locking, disabling, or wiping if lost.
  • Provides backup for the EDI process.

  • Regular paid on call for 2nd and 3rd shift warehouse support
  • On occasion, may be required to be available during off hours for emergencies

  • Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, throughout all organization levels and provide easy to understand explanations.
  • Ability to work independently and treat confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to remain professional and maintain a pleasant demeanor in dealing with all of the requirements of the position
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to handle multiple requests simultaneously.
  • Ability to operate in a professional office environment, routinely using standard office equipment
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to articulate information to others.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: The daily responsibilities of this position require effective talking, hearing, sitting, walking, and standing functions. Frequent repetitive motion activities are required. Must be able to read print and computer-based materials and to do so with consistent accuracy. Most of these functions require light physical exertion and are conducted in a temperature-controlled environment with occasional exposure to hot and cold temperatures. 

INTELLECTUAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The occupant of this position must be able to perform the responsibilities of the position well under pressure. The position requires adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. This position requires the ability to manage a number of projects at one time, and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of others. It also requires adaptability to fluctuate between priorities on a daily basis while being responsive to needs as they arise
