Full job details

The IT Support Specialist troubleshoots and repairs hardware and software problems for Tennessee Aquarium, Creative Discovery Museum, and Hunter Museum of American Art staff. This support for customers includes setup, staging, and maintaining IT desktop hardware and software.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provides troubleshooting assistance in resolving computer or networking problems and/or issues.
2. Supports requests for IT hardware and software adds, moves, changes and installs.
3. Resolves problems with hardware and standard software applications. This includes computers, monitors and various peripherals like printers, scanners, IP telephones, mobile devices, servers, etc.
4. Helps maintain documentation on IT systems and computer infrastructure.
5. Stages end user equipment in alignment with departmental practices.
6. Assists users with the onboarding process of both new users and technology provided.
7. Performs preventive and/or scheduled maintenance to equipment, including patch maintenance.
8. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information encountered through performing job duties.
9. Assists with IT managed systems that may include phone systems, security systems, data backup systems, or other systems.
10. Completes required company and department training courses and attend companywide meetings.
11. Participates in cross-functional work teams as required.
12. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
• Knowledge of configuring, troubleshooting, repairing and providing end-user support for IT managed equipment including computers, tablets, phones, etc.
• Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems
• Knowledge of Cloud Service Delivery Models and providers
• Familiarity with cyber security principles
• Ability to learn, troubleshoot and support organization specific software and hardware
• Excellent and flexible troubleshooting skills for novel situations involving the organization’s hardware, software, cloud ecosystem, and network systems
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills required
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Educational/Experience Requirements
• High school diploma (associate’s degree in a related field preferred)
• Minimum of two years’ experience working with networked computers
*Equivalent combination of education and experience may suffice*

Working Conditions
• Work performed in a variety of environments, including office spaces, public exhibit areas, event spaces, and behind-the-scenes operational areas.
• Primarily climate-controlled working conditions but occasional exposure to varying temperatures, moderate noise levels, and active public environments.
• Requires travel between Aquarium facilities and IT’s customer facilities in the metropolitan area which may require limited driving.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described below are representative of those that may be encountered while performing the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Requires ability to push, physically handle, and lift objects up to approximately 50 lbs.
• Ability to move throughout office, exhibit, and behind-the-scenes areas to provide technical support across the facility.
• Positioning of the body to install, troubleshoot, or maintain equipment, which may include stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, or working under desks or in confined spaces as needed.
• Ascend and descend ladders and stairs as needed.
• Frequent use of computers, monitors, and other technology equipment for extended periods of time.

Full-time, hourly (Starting at $30.80/hour, commensurate with education and experience); Typical Monday-Friday schedule, with occasional early morning or evening projects as needed.
