FT / PT Status – Full-Time
Salary –
$41.59 - $70.69 Hourly Wage
Remote Work / In-Office –
This position operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring two days a week in the office at the Taylorsville State Office Building (4315 S 2700 W, Taylorsville, UT), with the remainder of the week teleworking. Please note that eligibility for telework is determined by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion.

Key Responsibilities

The Utah Geospatial Resource Center (UGRC) is seeking an accomplished and motivated IT Analyst III to join our Application Development Team. May underfill in a lower position. Join a pivotal and exciting IT team dedicated to serving Utah citizens efficiently and effectively, in collaboration with federal and state partners. This is a chance to make a tangible difference for the citizens of Utah.

This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects, including the development of web applications, backend data pipelines, and web services that directly support UGRC's mission. The successful candidate will possess a proven track record of designing and implementing full-stack (front- and backend) solutions that effectively integrate data from disparate sources using technologies such as .NET (C#), TypeScript/JavaScript, and Python.

This job may be filled at either of the levels listed below. (Rate as listed or in accordance with DHRM Rules for current state employees.)

  • Information Technology  Analyst III, $41.59 - $70.69 per hour
  • Information Technology Analyst II, $35.09 - $59.63 per hour

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications utilizing .NET (C#),
  • JavaScript/TypeScript, and python.
  • Collaborate with team members to adhere to and promote best practices and coding standards.
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve complex application issues.
  • Proactively manage and reduce technical debt in existing applications.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, processes, and code changes.
  • Partner with the Project Manager to ensure all technical aspects are accurately factored into project estimates.
  • Conduct technical code reviews for changes submitted by other team members.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning in new principles, languages, technologies, and software.
  • Strong programming experience using .NET (C#) to build web applications and services.
  • Proficiency with version control systems, such as Git/GitHub.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities, with a professional approach to working with peers.
  • Proven ability to responsibly leverage AI tools to enhance work efficiency and quality.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and related software.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD workflows, specifically GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with Python.
  • Proficiency with containerization.
  • Proficiency with SQL.
  • Experience using cloud services, particularly Google Cloud Platform.
  • Knowledge of principles and design patterns for managing cloud infrastructure and code bases using Terraform.
  • Experience in the government or public sector, working with a variety of organizations from local to federal levels.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or 2–5 years of equivalent professional programming experience.
