Job Summary

Under direct supervision, the IT Help Desk Student Assistant assists with tier 1 help desk support of staff and systems. In addition, performs duties ranging from unskilled to skilled and/or specialized in various positions that typically require manual, clerical, public contact, and/or analytical skills. Assignments have limited use of discretion and judgment. Work is regularly reviewed and may entail detailed instructions. The appropriate campus department defines specific job duties.

• Provide help desk support to staff/faculty
• Basic maintenance of computer lab facilities.
• Assist with computer rollouts, network printer install, mobile device support, and system life cycle
• replacement.
• Assist with testing and proof of concept implementations.
• Assist with Asset Lifecycle Management
• Conference Room Support (Zoom, Teams, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

• Strong PC and Mac knowledge
• Customer Service Experience
• Microsoft Office experience
• Must be self-motivated, proactive, and organized
• Ability to multitask
• Ability to successfully work with all types of people
• Must be able to maintain composure under pressure as well as a positive, friendly attitude

Required Qualifications

• Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
• Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
• In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
• Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.

Background Check

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
