About the Role

Who we are

With its A.I.-powered robotic technology platform, Symbotic is changing the way consumer goods move through the supply chain. Intelligent software orchestrates advanced robots in a high-density, end-to-end system – reinventing warehouse automation for increased efficiency, speed and flexibility.

Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Test Engineer to design, build, and deploy manufacturing test solutions for complex electromechanical systems. This role involves developing test fixtures, designing PCBA-based hardware, creating automated test software, and supporting global manufacturing operations.

You will work closely with hardware, software, manufacturing, and supplier teams to ensure robust test coverage, high product quality, and scalable test deployment across multiple sites.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and develop manufacturing test fixtures, including electrical, mechanical, and system-level integration.

  • Create and debug schematics and PCBAs for test hardware, including bring-up, validation, and rework.

  • Develop and maintain automated test software (Python/C#/LabVIEW) for functional, parametric, and diagnostic testing.

  • Perform hands-on debugging of PCBA, test fixtures, and system-level failures using lab equipment.

  • Support deployment and sustainment of test systems at Contract Manufacturers (CMs), including troubleshooting and training.

  • Analyze test data, yield trends, and failure modes to drive quality improvements and cost reduction.

Required Qualifications / Experience

  • BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Robotics, or Electromechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).

  • 1–3+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing test, hardware validation, or fixture development.

  • Proficient in 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred) and creation of detailed engineering drawings.

  • experience in designing and building mechanical fixtures or automation systems.

  • Strong experience with schematics, PCBA design, and board-level debugging.

  • Experience building test fixtures (power systems, relays, mux, DAQ, signal routing).

  • Proficiency in test automation programming (Python preferred; C#/LabVIEW a plus).

  • Hands-on experience with test equipment (oscilloscope, DMM, power supply, logic analyzer).

  • Familiarity with embedded systems and communication protocols (CAN, UART, Ethernet).

  • Experience working with Contract Manufacturers (CMs) or production environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with modular/scalable test platforms across multiple products.

  • Exposure to robotics systems, motors, sensors, or industrial automation.

  • Experience with SQL/database logging and test data analytics.

  • Familiarity with DFT (Design for Test), DFM/DFA, and manufacturing processes.

Key Traits

  • Strong hands-on builder mindset (design + build + debug)

  • Ability to take ownership of end-to-end test development

  • Comfortable working in fast-paced manufacturing environments

  • Detail-oriented with focus on quality, reliability, and scalability

Physical & environmental requirements

  • Onsite Requirement: Based at HQ (ITC); not a remote role

  • Travel: 20–30% to support CM and customer sites

  • Work Environment: Lab, manufacturing floor, and office settings

  • Customer Site Support: Required as needed for deployment and troubleshooting

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs
