About the Project
Federal Prison Industries (UNICOR) provides employment and training opportunities to incarcerated individuals through manufacturing, services, and technology programs that support federal agencies nationwide.
The Management Information Systems Branch (MISB) supports UNICOR's enterprise technology environment, including user support, infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, and business systems. As UNICOR continues to modernize its technology environment, the Service Desk Technician II will play a key role in supporting users, maintaining system performance, and ensuring timely resolution of technical issues.
Position Summary
KeenLogic is seeking an experienced System Administrator to support Federal Prison Industries (UNICOR), a government corporation within the U.S. Department of Justice. The System Administrator will be responsible for maintaining and supporting enterprise Information Technology infrastructure operating within a Microsoft Windows environment. This role supports day-to-day IT operations, including systems administration, account management, workstation and server support, operating system configuration, software deployment, patch management, vulnerability remediation, and end-user support. The ideal candidate is a hands-on IT professional with experience supporting enterprise environments, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and maintaining secure and reliable technology systems.
This position operates under a hybrid work model and may require occasional onsite support and travel to UNICOR or Bureau of Prisons facilities as needed. This opportunity supports a federal contract with a one-year base period and four option years, offering up to five years of continued work. Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- Full-time (40 hours per week)
- 8-hour shifts
- Start times between 6:30 AM and 8:30 AM
- End times between 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM
Requirements
- 5 years of IT experience
- CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) and Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)
- Each certification can be substituted for 2 years of IT work experience

- Administer, maintain, and support Microsoft Windows Server and Windows 11 environments across enterprise infrastructure.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, group memberships, password resets, and access controls within Active Directory and related systems.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot physical and virtual servers to ensure system reliability, performance, and availability.
- Perform operating system installations, upgrades, configurations, and deployments for servers and workstations.
- Administer and support Microsoft 365, Exchange, and Outlook environments, including user provisioning, mailbox management, and troubleshooting.
- Monitor system health and performance, identify issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain stable and secure operations.
- Perform patch management activities, including testing, deployment, verification, and reporting of operating system and application updates.
- Conduct vulnerability remediation activities and support compliance with organizational security requirements and best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex desktop, server, operating system, software, hardware, and infrastructure-related issues.
- Install, configure, maintain, and support hardware, software applications, peripheral devices, and enterprise technology solutions.
- Support enterprise infrastructure systems and collaborate with network, security, and support teams to resolve technical issues and improve service delivery.
- Assist with system documentation, configuration standards, operational procedures, and technical knowledge sharing.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end users, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and service requests.
- Participate in technology modernization initiatives, infrastructure upgrades, and system improvement projects.
- Support both remote and onsite operations and travel to designated locations as required to support mission and operational needs.
