Job Description: We are seeking a hands-on System Administrator to join our IT team and play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our enterprise technology environment. This position is responsible for supporting and administering our predominantly Microsoft-based infrastructure, including servers, cloud services, networking, virtualization, endpoint management and cybersecurity technologies.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who enjoys working across a broad range of technologies, collaborates effectively with software engineers, IT specialists, and external partners, and is passionate about improving systems, processes, and the overall user experience. Strong documentation skills and a continuous improvement mindset are essential.
Essential Functions:
- Windows Server & Microsoft 365 — In-depth knowledge of Active Directory, Azure AD, Microsoft Teams, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
- Administer Microsoft 365, including Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Intune.
- Manage laptop deployment, imaging, configuration, software deployment and policy enforcement through Intune.
- Support SQL Server administration, installation, updates, backup/restore routines and basic maintenance tasks.
- VMware vSphere — Experience managing and configuring VMware virtualized environments (ESXi). Experience with new cluster builds and configuration is a plus.
- Networking — Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and firewall management. Experience with enterprise-grade firewalls such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, or similar.
- Email Security — Solid understanding of email flow, routing, spam filtering, malware protection, and DLP.
- Physical Infrastructure — Hands-on experience with server hardware including racking, cabling, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and component replacement.
- Perform Server and network hardware support, maintenance, and upgrades.
- Provide end-user support, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure a positive user experience.
- Monitor systems for security vulnerabilities, support patch management, and participate in cybersecurity initiatives and compliance activities.
- Document systems, procedures, and configurations, and recommend improvements to enhance reliability, security, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a Systems Administrator or in a similar infrastructure support role within an enterprise environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server, virtualization platforms, and core networking.
- Experience managing Active Directory, Azure AD, and Microsoft 365.
- Experience with endpoint management, patching systems, and device policy controls.
- Knowledge of firewalls, wireless access points, VPNs, and general LAN architecture.
- Experience with desktop/laptop deployments including design, engineering and support of endpoints, imaging, encryption, endpoint CVEs, security alerts from monitored systems, and compliance with SOPs.
- Experience with MFA, SSO, and other security identity tools such as Entra.
- Familiarity with CMMC, NIST, ISO 27001 and similar standards.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- SQL Server Certification.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- -Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- General understanding of Windows operating system usage and permissions.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, networking, and virtualization technologies.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and compliance standards.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, CompTIA Network+, VMware) preferred.
