BASIC PURPOSE:
The Senior Network Engineer provides technical leadership for enterprise network infrastructure, driving architecture standards, design improvements, and alignment with business objectives. This role leads complex network design, implementation, troubleshooting, and optimization across routing, switching, security, cloud, and enterprise connectivity (voice, data, wireless, and collaboration), while ensuring high availability through proactive monitoring, rapid incident response, and effective disaster recovery planning. The position also mentors junior engineers and requires deep cross-domain expertise with the ability to lead hands-on technical work and resolve complex incidents. Individuals unable to do so will not meet expectations.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, implement, and support complex enterprise network and communications solutions (voice, data, video, wireless)
- Lead complex troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis for network, voice, and collaboration incidents
- Oversee network operations and lead response to high-impact incidents, ensuring timely resolution and service restoration
- Guide incident triage and escalation efforts, contributing to improvements in response processes
- Architect and optimize multi-domain network solutions across routing, switching, security, cloud, and unified communications
- Analyze network performance data (telemetry, logs, packet captures, VoIP metrics) to identify trends and drive improvements
- Lead implementation and integration of new technologies across on-premises and cloud environments
- Support and enhance network architecture standards, configurations, and documentation practices
- Drive capacity planning, performance tuning, and lifecycle management to ensure scalability and reliability
- Partner with vendors and stakeholders to design, implement, and improve network and communication solutions
- Lead infrastructure-related projects, ensuring alignment with scope, timelines, and architectural standards
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers, supporting skill development and problem resolution
- Support IT service management processes, disaster recovery planning, and continuous improvement initiatives

Autonomy: Operates with high autonomy. Makes technical decisions, designs solutions, and resolves complex issues. Escalates only when strategic trade-offs or cross-team impacts arise.
Impact: Shapes network and telecommunications capabilities across the entire organization. Defines engineering patterns, raises maturity levels, and drives large-scale improvements that reduce risk and improve operational efficiency.
People Influence: Mentors less experienced team members. Leads technical project teams. Provides input into workforce capability development. Influences Architecture, Infrastructure, and Operations as a subject matter expert.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- Degree in Computer Science, Networking, Telecommunications, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience;7-10+ years hands-on experience.
- Proven leadership in Network Engineering and architecture.
- Ability to design and maintain enterprise systems and automation workflows.
- Advanced experience with Networking, Voice Technologies and Collaboration systems at engineering depth.
- Ability to act as escalation point for complex, multi-vector incidents.
- Expertise across endpoint, cloud, network, and data security domains.
Technical Competencies
- Capability to evaluate and improve network and voice architecture.
- Ability to drive technical initiatives requiring cross-functional coordination.
- Design and Implementation experience in voice, data communications, contact center technologies, and video conferencing.
- Strong understanding of SIP, H.323, and other VoIP protocols.
- In-depth understanding of communication protocols and routing protocols.
- Solid background in network administration and architecture.
Preferred
- Cisco CCNA or CCNP or CCDP – Voice/Collaboration certification a plus.
- Experience influencing enterprise architecture and leadership decision-making.
