About the Role

Eaton’s Corporate Sector division is currently seeking a Senior IT Specialist - M365 & Active Directory Architect. The preference is for this position to sit at our Beachwood, OH or Moon Township, PA location however will consider candidates in the other following locations: Galesburg MI, Houston TX, Menomonee Falls WI, or Raleigh NC.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $130000 - $190000 a year.

What you’ll do:

Job Summary    

The position requires a highly technical professional who will be the Solution Architect  for M365 Platform and Active Directory/Entra ID who has in-depth knowledge of entire M365 suits of applications and both on-prim and cloud Directory services. This role is responsible for processes, standards, governance and performance of the M365 platform and Eaton's Active Directory/Entra ID infrastructure including Govt. Cloud (GCC). This includes identifying processes and procedures required to properly monitor, maintain, upgrade or troubleshoot our M365 and AD environments (online & on premise).  The primary responsibility of this role requires alignment and ownership on enterprise wide projects including M&A as well as managing highly complex issues or requests. This position is also responsible for designing standards, roadmaps and leads the team through critical issue resolutions and training. The position will identify technology trends and make recommendations for improvement to the overall system design and support model while expected to work closely with management team. 

Ability to provide Solution Design, Service and Support across Eaton Corporation Enterprise M365 platform including Administration, Tenant Management, Active Directory, Entra ID, Azure Cloud Connect, Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams. 

Job Responsibilities:    

Your essential responsibilities include:  

1. Major decision owner for M365 & AD platform Strategy, Roadmap, design, development, and implementation
2. Leads overall effort and works with resources across functions to deliver technology platform, and system solutions to meet customer requirements, providing solution options, making recommendation, and highlighting operational or security risks, as well as providing alternative options
3. Defines standards  for technologies, platforms, and systems to meet organization requirements
4. Translates business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives and documents all solution architecture design and analysis work
5. Works closely with the product owners and product managers to ensure a robust architectural runway that can support future business requirements throughout the product lifecycle
6. Understands business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state) and determines corresponding enterprise solution designs and change requirements to drive the organization's targeted business outcomes with required controls and compliance including CMMC, ITAR, GDPR etc. 
7. Leads lifecycle management activities for technology, platform, systems, and related documentation to ensure operational health and security. 
8. Monitors technology, platform, and systems to ensure required performance, availability, and capacity.  Identifies and eliminates gaps in monitoring and potential impact on service delivery.
9. Work with Security, Legal and other groups including Work Council to define Governance and policy for the platform.
10. Define data retaintion strategy and implement appropriate policy to meet organization requirements while making sure the security standards are met. 
11. Follows industry best practices to maximize quality and efficiency
12. Consistently utilize key ITIL processes to solve complex cross platform infrastructure issues with in-depth troubleshooting approach and provide most feasible options and recommend best solutions to specified problem including RCA.

Additional Information:

•Lead and performs all aspects of Active Directory (including Entra ID) and M365 Global Tenant management & adminstration, security, performance-monitoring, tuning, scripting, roles/access and maintenance of all production systems
•Responsible to respond to incidents and requests where clients are having issues with M365 Platform and AD, Licensing, Teams, Exchange Online, Exchange on premise and support M&A. 
•Provide thought leadership and hands on support to the governance process, release management, peer reviews, and promote standards across our technical teams.  Participate in projects to evolve or implement the new features of the O365 platform, AD and Azure AD Connect.
• Collaborate with other technical experts in O365 and Unified Communications space to determine standards, governance, admistrative controls and policies to make Eaton's O365 platform secure.   
• Works on complex problems where analysis of situations requires in-depth root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills.
•Identify, research, and keep apprised of emerging cloud technologies, solutions, strategies, and developments with the goal of identifying opportunities for their use. 
•Introduce industry relevant best practices and improvement opportunities to improve efficiency and proficency of team. This also includes the responsibility to train new team members that join our team.
• Acts as a focal point for organizing a technical team to drive resolution to a complex problem and communicating status as needed.
• Engage with vendors to understand technology trends and impact on our environment and provide feedback to appropriate stakeholders including management. 
• Generate clear and concise documentation in the form of Knowledge Base (KB), process documents, Engineering Standards, FAQ, technical tips etc. Also establish processes and documentation for End Users, Service Desk and other support groups as needed
• Ability to work effectively with and provide guidance to other members of the team

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors' degree from an accredited
  • Minimum twelve (12) years IT experience
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in Microsoft Technology domain including Active Directory/M365/Exchange
  • No relocation is offered for this position. All candidates must currently reside within 50 miles of Beachwood, OH: Moon Township, PA: Galesburg MI: Houston TX: Menomonee Falls WI: or Raleigh NC.
  • This position requires access to export-controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must be a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future

Technical knowledge

• Proven experience of Microsoft M365 suits of applications including Teams, Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint, Microsoft Copilot etc.
• Extensive understanding of Commercial Cloud, Govt. Cloud and Regional Microsoft Cloud instances.  
• Extensive knowledge of Active Directory including Entra ID, and Entra Connect Sync
• Extensive knowledge of Design and management of single‑forest and multi‑forest environments
• Extensive knowledge of Domain and forest functional level planning and upgrades
• Extensive knowledge of Trust design and management (forest, external, selective authentication)
• Experience with Schema governance, extension planning, and change control
• Experience with Kerberos and NTLM authentication flows
• Experience with Disaster recovery and forest/domain recovery planning
• Experience with Split‑brain DNS and namespace planning
• Experience with Domain consolidation, separation, and coexistence planning and Domain lifecycle management for M&A, divestitures, and spin‑offs
• Experience with end point management & security using Intune. 
• Experience in M365 tenant deployment, change management and configuration
• Experience with M365 retention and data protection.
• Experience with deploying Identity governance controls and Conditional Access
• Experience with managing Exchange Hybrid organizations
• Experience with policy & Governance in a complex global organization
• Experience with Microsoft Teams global administration, 3rd party app integrations, dashboarding etc.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Graph, Microsoft Copilot, Agent governance and Powershell.
• Good to have hands on M365 tenant to tenant migration experience
• Microsoft 365 Certified Enterprise Administrator expert certification preferred
