Senior Cloud Engineer

Summary/Objective
The Senior Cloud Engineer is a senior-level infrastructure professional responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and support of the organization's cloud environment, with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure. This position plays a key role in shaping cloud strategy, infrastructure architecture, systems integrations, security, and operational reliability. The individual will work closely with the IT Director and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions while progressively assuming ownership of solution architecture and technical design decisions. The role requires a strong blend of hands-on engineering expertise, systems integration experience, and strategic thinking.
Essential Functions
- Design, implement, maintain, and optimize Microsoft Azure infrastructure supporting critical business applications, data platforms, and enterprise systems.
- Architect and support cloud-based integrations between business systems, reporting platforms, and third-party applications.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions and infrastructure designs that align with organizational objectives.
- Develop and maintain cloud architecture documentation, including current-state and future-state environments.
- Configure and manage Azure networking, compute, storage, identity management, security controls, governance, and cost optimization initiatives.
- Partner with business and technology stakeholders to design scalable solutions for reporting, analytics, integrations, and infrastructure modernization efforts.
- Lead or participate in architecture reviews and provide technical guidance on cloud best practices.
- Monitor cloud environments to ensure availability, performance, scalability, security, and operational efficiency.
- Implement and maintain disaster recovery, backup, business continuity, and cybersecurity controls.
- Support cloud migration initiatives and evaluate emerging technologies, platforms, and services.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, application, and data teams to troubleshoot complex technical issues and drive continuous improvement.
- Assist in developing and executing the organization's cloud strategy, standards, and governance framework.

Required Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five (5) or more years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting cloud infrastructure environments.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure in a production environment.
- Strong knowledge of Azure networking, storage, compute, Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), governance, and security services.
- Experience designing and supporting integrations between cloud platforms and enterprise applications, ERP systems, reporting tools, or data platforms.
- Experience translating business and technical requirements into scalable solution designs.
- Strong understanding of cloud security principles, risk management, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to operate independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and multi-cloud environments.
- Exposure to Databricks or similar data and analytics platforms.
- Experience integrating cloud solutions with Oracle, Power BI, or comparable enterprise systems.
- Experience within financial services, insurance, or another highly regulated industry.
- Azure certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent cloud certifications.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code, automation, and cloud deployment methodologies.
Required Education
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education, certifications, and relevant experience may be considered.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but serves as a technical leader and subject matter expert within the Infrastructure team.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and other office technology. Hybrid or remote work arrangements may be available based on business needs.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday. Additional hours may be required to support system implementations, upgrades, outages, or other business-critical initiatives.
Travel
Occasional travel may be required for training, vendor meetings, conferences, or business needs.
