JOB DESCRIPTION

The Project Assurance Engineer supports the Assurance Manager in implementing the Project Assurance Framework across all project phases. The role is responsible for coordinating assurance activities, stage gate reviews, readiness assessments, assurance actions, and compliance verification to ensure project delivery requirements are achieved in accordance with Santos Management System (SMS) requirements.

The position provides assurance coordination throughout the project lifecycle, from opportunity maturation through FEED, execution, commissioning, start-up, and handover.

 

Key Responsibilities

Project Assurance Framework

  • Support implementation of the Project Assurance Plan (QAP).
  • Coordinate project assurance activities across all project phases.
  • Maintain assurance schedules, action registers, and deliverable tracking systems.
  • Verify project assurance requirements are incorporated into project execution plans.
  • Ensure assurance deliverables are completed in accordance with project timelines.

Stage Gate Assurance

  • Coordinate preparation for all project stage gate reviews.
  • Track gate deliverables and evidence requirements.
  • Support gate readiness assessments.
  • Verify closure of gate actions and conditions.
  • Maintain records of gate decisions and approvals.
  • Facilitate coordination between functional disciplines to achieve gate readiness.

Phase Assurance Reviews

Coordinate assurance activities during:

  • Opportunity Identification
  • Concept Select
  • Pre-FEED
  • FEED
  • Detailed Design
  • Execute
  • Commissioning
  • Start-Up
  • Handover

Support verification that phase-specific requirements have been completed prior to progression to the next phase.

 

Assurance Action Management

  • Maintain project assurance action registers.
  • Track closure of assurance findings and recommendations.
  • Monitor aging and overdue actions.
  • Coordinate with action owners to ensure timely closeout.
  • Provide regular status reporting to project leadership.

Readiness Reviews

  • Project Readiness Reviews
  • Execution Readiness Reviews
  • Construction Readiness Reviews
  • Commissioning Readiness Reviews
  • Operations Readiness Reviews
  • Track readiness actions and verify completion.

 

Management System Compliance

  • Verify project compliance with applicable SMS requirements.
  • Monitor implementation of project governance requirements.
  • Support periodic assurance assessments.
  • Assist with identification of improvement opportunities.

Assurance Reporting

  • Prepare assurance dashboards and reports.
  • Develop assurance status summaries for project management.
  • Monitor assurance KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Support management review meetings.

Lessons Learned Integration

  • Coordinate incorporation of lessons learned into project planning and execution.
  • Verify lessons learned actions are implemented where applicable.
  • Maintain lessons learned tracking records.

Interface Coordination

Coordinate assurance activities between:

Experience
5+ years expereience with Engineering degree

Preferred

  • Major capital projects ($100M+)
  • Oil & Gas / Energy projects
  • Project assurance or project governance experience
  • Stage gate and project delivery systems
  • Pre-FEED and FEED development processes
  • Readiness reviews and project controls
