About the Role
The Eugene Water & Electric Board is currently seeking a Network Administrator to install, manage, and maintain enterprise and SCADA network infrastructure. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage network systems including routers, switches, wireless controllers, and firewalls through the full hardware and software lifecycle.
- Measure and monitor network performance and availability statistics.
- Recommend enhancements to network for quality, reliability, and security.
- Collaborate and communicate with business unit representatives to align business requirements to technical decisions.
- Evaluate and communicate supportability of solutions and security risks associated with network configuration options and remediate prioritized and significant risks.
- Establish and maintain an accurate inventory of network devices and related dependencies.
- After-hours support and on-call participation as required by EWEB on-call policy.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and direct experience in:
- Knowledge of networking protocols including TCP/IP, ethernet, spanning-tree, HSRP, VPC, OSPF, and BGP
- Experience implementing and managing Cisco IOS, Cisco NXOS, Paloalto PANOS, and VMWare ESXi, and Microsoft systems.
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving impactful problems in large complex network environments.
- Knowledge of network security strategies and solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proactive problem solving.
- Software troubleshooting skills
Compensation & Benefits
The annual salary range for this position is $96,523 - $120,654.
The starting pay offered will be established based on multiple factors, including the successful candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, education, and relevant experience, as well as internal equity. Consistent with EWEB’s compensation philosophy, it is not customary to place individuals at the high end of the salary range at the time of hire. Compensation decisions are made holistically to support fair, consistent, and equitable pay practices, taking into account the specific circumstances of each position and candidate.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Candidates who do not meet all of the minimum qualifications, but whose application materials demonstrate the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to be successful in the position are encouraged to apply. Experience: Four years of progressively responsible experience in Local Area Network, server administration, and workstation hardware and software support. Experience must include one or more of the following areas: network design, development and management storage area network, virtualization, data protection and IP telephony systems and technologies.
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology or related field with technical courses in Networks and other IT infrastructure, server and personal computer hardware, operating system software or other applicable technical education.
Desirable education, experience, training and certifications: Preferred experience with technology from vendors: Cisco, Paloalto, Microsoft, Red Hat, and VMWare (current vendor certifications are desired).

Location:
This position is based in Eugene, Oregon and it has been approved as a hybrid work arrangement involving a combination of telecommuting and working on-site. The selected candidate must live in the state of Oregon.
