SUMMARY

The Lead Infrastructure Engineer (Cloud and Data Center) is a senior, hands-on technical role responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of MD Logistics’ hybrid infrastructure across cloud and on‑premises environments. 


This position serves as the technical lead for infrastructure, accountable for delivering stable, scalable, and secure platforms while driving the evolution of MD Logistics’ hybrid environment.


The ideal candidate takes full ownership of infrastructure outcomes, with the technical depth to design, build, and operate complex infrastructure solutions end‑to‑end while partnering effectively with leadership and cross‑functional teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Additional responsibilities may be assigned.


Infrastructure Engineering and Technical Leadership

  • Lead the design, build, and ongoing evolution of MD Logistics’ hybrid infrastructure across cloud and on‑premises environments.
  • Serve as the primary technical authority for infrastructure decisions, standards, and architecture. 
  • Own and manage core infrastructure platforms, including: 
    • Cloud platforms (compute, storage, networking, identity, disaster recovery)
    • Windows Server, Active Directory, and Entra ID
    • Network architecture (LAN, WAN, SD‑WAN, firewalls)
    • Virtualization and Computer platforms
  • Translate business and application requirements into scalable, resilient technical solutions.


Cloud and Data Center Strategy Execution

  • Lead the migration of legacy systems to modern, cloud‑based platforms.
  • Drive reduction of on‑premises and colocation footprint.
  • Design and implement high‑availability and disaster‑recovery solutions, including backup, replication, and failover testing.
  • Partner with leadership to manage and optimize cloud consumption and related costs.


Operations, Stability, and Performance

  • Own overall infrastructure reliability, performance, and uptime.
  • Act as Tier III escalation for complex technical issues.
  • Identify root causes and drive permanent resolutions of recurring problems.
  • Improve monitoring, alerting, and operational visibility across infrastructure.
  • Establish and maintain standards, documentation, and runbooks to ensure consistency, supportability, and knowledge transfer.


Technical Oversight and External Coordination

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for infrastructure‑related initiatives and projects.
  • Review and validate infrastructure designs, configurations, and recommendations from external Partners.
  • Ensure alignment to MD Logistics standards, security requirements, and architectural direction.


Security and Compliance

  • Design and implement secure infrastructure architectures across both cloud and on‑premises environments.
  • Enforce best practices for identity and access management, including least‑privilege and role‑based access controls.
  • Support ISO 27001 and other regulatory or customer‑driven compliance initiatives.
  • Partner with leadership to identify, assess, and mitigate infrastructure and security risks.
  • Ensure proper configuration and ongoing management of security controls across systems, networks, and cloud platforms.
  • Contribute to incident response and remediation efforts related to security findings.

 

Team Contribution and Development

  • Provide ongoing technical mentorship and hands‑on guidance to junior infrastructure team members.
  • Assist in prioritization and coordination of infrastructure work across the team.
  • Elevate overall team capability through knowledge sharing, documentation, standardization.
  • Contribute to building a strong, execution‑focused infrastructure function.
  • Drive the creation and maintenance of clear, accurate infrastructure documentation, including architecture diagrams, configuration standards, and operational procedures.


MISCELLANEOUS DUTIES

Participate in special projects and company‑wide activities associated with the IT department as needed.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 N/A (May provide technical mentorship and guidance without formal people‑management responsibility.)


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

Required Experience

  • Seven (7+) years of hands‑on infrastructure engineering experience.
  • Strong demonstrated experience with cloud platforms, including compute, networking, identity, and disaster‑recovery.
  • Experience operating hybrid environments (cloud and on‑premises).
  • Deep technical expertise in: 
    • Windows Server, Active Directory, and Entra ID
    • Network architecture and fundamentals (routing, firewalls, segmentation)
    • Virtualization and Compute platforms
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure security principles and best practices.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and security issues end‑to‑end.
  • Experience working with third‑party providers and validating technical solutions.

 

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting warehouse, logistics, or WMS platforms.
  • Experience with disaster‑recovery technologies and strategies.
  • Familiarity with ISO 27001 or similar regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience transitioning infrastructure capabilities from external providers to internal teams.
  • Automation and scripting experience (PowerShell, Terraform, or similar).
  • Exposure to security tools and practices, including vulnerability management, logging, and monitoring.

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documentation, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and correspondence. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non‑technical audiences.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to perform basic mathematical functions such as counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division as needed for technical analysis or documentation.

 

REASONING ABILILTY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
