Job Title: Junior Network Systems Administrator
Department: Information Technology Reports To: Network Manager / VP of IT FLSA Status: Exempt / Non-Exempt (based on org standards)
Position Summary
The Junior Network Systems Administrator supports the day-to-day operations of the organization’s network and systems infrastructure. This role focuses on monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and user support under the guidance of senior IT staff. The ideal candidate is technically curious, detail-oriented, and eager to grow into a more advanced infrastructure role.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist with the administration and support of network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, firewalls, switches, routers)
· Monitor network performance, availability, and alerts; escalate issues as needed
· Perform routine system maintenance, patching, and updates
· Support user account management (Active Directory, Azure AD, group policies)
· Assist with onboarding/offboarding activities (VPN access, device setup, permissions)
· Troubleshoot basic network, connectivity, and hardware issues
· Maintain accurate documentation of network diagrams, configurations, and procedures
· Follow IT security policies and assist with compliance efforts (HIPAA, internal controls)
· Work closely with Helpdesk and senior infrastructure staff to resolve incidents
· Participate in on-call rotations or after-hours maintenance as required
· Support acquisitions, new site builds, and major technology initiatives
Required Qualifications
· Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
· 1–3 years of experience in a network or systems support role
· Basic understanding of: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, switching and routing concepts, windows server and active directory
· Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Azure fundamentals
· Ability to follow procedures and document work clearly
· Strong customer service and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
· Exposure to firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco, etc.)
· Familiarity with VPN technologies
· Experience in a healthcare or regulated environment
· Entry-level certifications (Network+, AZ-900, CCNA – nice to have)
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
· Primarily office/remote environment with occasional lifting of IT equipment (up to 74 lbs).
· Ability to sit/stand for extended periods; frequent computer use.
· Traveling for On-Site Visits (as needed), Security & Compliance Expectations (Healthcare-Ready)
· Adhere to HIPAA and organizational security policies when handling systems containing PHI/PII.
· Maintain confidentiality and follow least-privilege and secure verification procedures.
· Report suspected security incidents immediately per policy.

Personnel are expected to participate in appropriate continuing education as may be requested and/or required by their immediate Member of Management. In addition, personnel are expected to accept personal responsibility for other educational activities to enhance job related skills and abilities.
