About the department:

The University of Delaware’s Center for Innovation in Lifelong Learning and Teaching (CILLT) provides high-quality programs that empower students to achieve their educational and professional goals throughout their lives.

CILLT comprises four administrative units: 1) UD Online; 2) the Division of Professional and Continuing Studies (PCS); 3) Academic Technology Services (ATS) and 4) the Center for Teaching and Assessment of Learning (CTAL). ATS and CTAL partner with UD colleges and departments to foster teaching and learning excellence in all modalities and with appropriate educational technologies. UD Online and PCS partner with colleges and departments to offer online and in-person lifelong learning programs to a variety of students, ranging from pre-college programs for high-school students to degrees and certificates for college students and working professionals, to Osher Lifelong Learning Institute programs for students over 50.

Role Description:

UD CILLT is seeking responsible, motivated candidates to apply for the position of IT Technician. This individual will work closely with staff to help troubleshoot issues and provide general IT support.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Desktop support for workstations and laptops, and other technology equipment.
  • Install and provide support and instruction in using common networking, communication, and office productivity software, such as Zoom, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Chrome, Firefox, and Cisco AnyConnect VPN client.
  • Set up, maintain and troubleshoot computer equipment, peripherals, and audiovisual equipment in offices, common areas, and meeting rooms.
  • Ensuring system and software configurations are installed in accordance with UD computing security standards and requirements.
  • Unboxing and deploying laptops and setup peripherals (port replicator, monitors, scanner, etc.) Imaging new PCs for deployment.
  • Triaging network printer issues and performing printer maintenance tasks.
  • Assisting users with general email issues (calendar access, archiving, rules, connectivity).
  • Microsoft Active Directory support, including user creation and management, organizational units (OU) placement, password resets, and Group Policy Management.
  • Troubleshooting malware.
  • Maintaining hardware inventory.
  • Assisting end users with password resets and account lockouts.
  • Verifying backup completion status and escalating any failures via ticketing system.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants should have prior Information Technology education or experience in the form of completed coursework, technical certifications or previous employment. Degree completion is not a requirement.
  • Experience with Windows and MacOS operating systems. Experience with ChromeOS, iOS/iPadOS, and Android operating systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with office, networking, and communications software
  • Prior computing support experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize, plan, and organize work are required.
  • Ability to make procedural decisions and judgments; to analyze and solve problems with attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with individuals from diverse backgrounds with varying levels of technology experience.
  • Ability to practice discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities in a fast-paced service environment.
  • Must be able to lift IT equipment (up to 50 lbs.) as needed with or without assistance.
