About the Role

ERGOS Technology Partners is an international managed IT services provider headquartered in Houston, Texas, delivering end-to-end computer support and services to businesses and organizations of all sizes. Our highly trained professionals work tirelessly to ensure efficient operations, secure data resources, reliable systems, and exceptional customer service.

We are looking for an experienced IT Manager to join our team and serve as a trusted technology advisor to a dedicated portfolio of clients. This is not a behind-the-scenes infrastructure role - it is a high-visibility, client-facing position that blends technical depth with business acumen. The ideal candidate takes ownership of their client environments, builds genuine relationships, and proactively drives technology strategy rather than waiting to be asked.

The IT Manager is responsible for the full lifecycle of IT services across their assigned accounts - from service definition and design through ongoing operations and continuous improvement. You will be the primary point of contact for clients, the voice of ERGOS in every consultation, and the person accountable for ensuring the environments you manage are stable, secure, and aligned with each client's business goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Environment Ownership

  • Maintain the stability and performance of all assigned client environments; proactively review accounts without being prompted and identify deviations from best practices before they become problems
  • Develop a thorough understanding of each client's environment, including configurations, known risks, and historical issues - and maintain that knowledge continuously
  • Identify and escalate high-priority risks or chronic recurring issues; investigate root causes and drive remediation rather than treating symptoms
  • Evaluate environments for security posture, firmware lifecycle status, backup integrity, and alerting coverage on a regular cadence

Client Relationship and Advisory

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients; be fluent in the state of each environment and able to discuss any open issue, its impact, and the path to resolution
  • Lead client consultations and technology roadmap discussions; gather business context to recommend the right solutions - not just technically correct ones
  • Conduct regular agreement reviews to ensure services remain aligned with client needs and contract commitments
  • Support client budget planning for upcoming projects, hardware refresh cycles, and strategic technology investments
  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with client stakeholders at all levels - from end users to executives

Operations and Service Management

  • Standardize and enforce work intake processes across assigned accounts; prioritize workloads to ensure client needs are met efficiently and consistently
  • Oversee full lifecycle management for services in your portfolio - definition, design, delivery, and ongoing evolution in partnership with internal stakeholders
  • Provide structure, guidance, and oversight for all aspects of workforce and project planning that affect your assigned accounts
  • Champion continuous improvement efforts across your client base; identify patterns and systemic gaps and drive initiatives to address them
  • Maintain meticulous documentation of configurations, troubleshooting steps, changes made, and client-specific standards

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field - or 5+ years of equivalent hands-on experience in a managed services or IT management role
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience managing and directing IT projects and client environments at small-to-large scale
  • Advanced knowledge of IT infrastructure including servers, networking, databases, virtualization, and cloud platforms
  • Deep familiarity with Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems and enterprise-grade server hardware
  • Networking expertise including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, and firewall administration
  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, or Citrix
  • Hands-on experience with business-class backup and DR solutions including Axcient, Datto, or Acronis
  • Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure - Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services
  • Experience with database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle
  • Familiarity with SAN and NAS storage architectures
  • Security knowledge spanning firewalls, endpoint protection, intrusion detection, and security protocols
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client accounts and competing priorities simultaneously without losing quality or responsiveness
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - able to present technical information clearly to non-technical business stakeholders
  • Strong analytical mindset with a proactive, structured approach to problem solving
  • Exceptional attention to detail in documentation and change management practices

KNOWLEDGE AREAS

  • IT documentation practices and standards - including environment runbooks, change logs, and client-specific SOPs
  • IT best practices across infrastructure, security, and service delivery
  • Backup solution architecture and recovery best practices
  • Device and application alerting frameworks; understanding of what good looks like in a monitored environment
  • Device firmware lifecycle management and patch compliance
  • Managed services delivery models and client engagement frameworks

BENEFITS

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off
