Job Description:
This job is responsible for infrastructure tool/service designs within technical domains in accordance with architectural governance, standards and policies. Key responsibilities include facilitating deployment of tools/services by leading others in solution development, maintenance of templates, playbooks and automation used during implementation. Job expectations include demonstrating expertise within technical domains, decomposing issues or objectives into work units, advancing efficient solution delivery practices, and promoting exceptional design, engineering and organizational practices.
This role is responsible for problem and debugging support, interfacing with application developers as well as with other CICS personnel and working across various technical groups as needed to maintain the Mainframe CICS environment.
Responsibilities:
Provides subject matter expertise and consulting services on a range of technologies and assists Technical Analysts and Infrastructure Engineers to ensure that technology solutions comply with enterprise system design and engineering standards
Assists with translating business requirements into technical definitions, reference models, blueprints, and playbooks for deployment in compliance with architecture standards and policies
Assists in the evaluation of reference models, blueprints and playbooks to ensure they are fit for purpose
Develops software solutions to address manual and repeatable work or inefficient processes
Conducts on-site evaluations of third-party products being considered for firm adoption
Promotes an inclusive and healthy working environment and helps to resolve organizational impediments/blockers
Contributes to the creation/selection of functional and non-functional product evaluation requirements within and across domains
Required Qualifications:
5+ years’ experience supporting CICS/TS release 5.6 or above, strong technical background in the z/OS mainframe arena plus in-depth knowledge of CICS/TS operations, internals, RDO, dump reading, performance monitoring & tuning, ONCALL Support (some weekend and off-hours work are required).
Experienced in developing and documentring operational procedures, problem debugging and root cause analysis, interaction with software vendors is necessary for the position.
The candidate must be proficient in the use of JCL and working with various vendor utility programs.
They must possess good analytical skills, debugging skills, knowledge of COBOL and CICS Command Level language programming.
Good communication skills both written and oral are required as the individual must interface with application developers, operations, support teams and management staff.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with any of the following would be a plus - Rexx, CICS WEB Interface, RACF, programming experience with Assembler or COBOL, zOS CONNECT, TMON, Fault Analyzer, Debug Tool, Jira, Websphere Application Server zOS.
