About the Role

Position Overview

The Desktop Support Technician Intern supports healthcare providers and staff by assisting with day-to-day technical needs in both clinical and administrative environments. This role provides hands-on experience with healthcare IT systems, including electronic health record (EHR) applications, clinical workstations, and HIPAA regulated technologies. The intern will work under supervision to ensure technology functions reliably in support of patient care.

Education and Experience

Minimum Requirement:

  • Currently pursuing a degree or certificate in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems
  • Familiarity with desktop hardware, printers, and peripherals
  • Strong customer service skills with ability to support clinicians and staff calmly and professionally
  • Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and data security
  • Ability to follow policies, procedures, and documentation standards

Preferred:

  • Recently completed a degree or certificate in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • Interest in healthcare IT or clinical systems
  • Basic understanding of Active Directory or Azure AD
  • Exposure to ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira, Freshservice, etc.)
  • Knowledge of endpoint management or imaging tools (SCCM, Intune, MDT)
