Full job details
We are currently recruiting for a Application System Administrator to be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining software applications, servers, and networks to ensure they function correctly and securely. Key responsibilities involve troubleshooting technical issues, managing user access and security, performing system updates and patches, and monitoring performance and resource consumption. The role also requires strong problem-solving and communication skills, along with a willingness to be available for occasional emergency support outside normal business hours when needed.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manage MHV’s Core application environments, install, configure software applications, servers,
and operating systems. Diagnose and resolve issues with applications and systems, respond to
our internal team and assist in the resolution of escalated tickets providing technical support to
system applications and servers. Manages and monitors system performance and resources and
analyze logs to ensure system integrity and availability. - Perform routine maintenance, apply patches, hot-fixes, system and application upgrades, and
verify scheduled jobs of core business system operations. Manage user and service accounts,
assign security permissions, and implement security policies to protect systems and data. - Research and evaluate new technology and implement new features and enhancements to
improve business processes. - Create technical documentation and provide training to technical users on new features and
system usage.
Performance Measurements include:
- To assure member service is top priority; treat members and other employees professionally with courtesy
and respect; to uphold MHV Service Standards. - An in-depth understanding of workstations, servers and a knowledge of networks, databases, protocols, and
system administration. The ability to implement all aspects of hardware and/or software rollout for supported
application environments. - Maintain core applications ensuring maximum uptime and system availability. Manage restoration and
recovery of any application systems failures. - Quickly assimilates and takes advantage of new technologies and communicates these to other Technology
Services personnel. - To keep help-desk system current, assuring all support tickets are assessed and responded to in a timely
manner.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Two to Five years of similar or related experience.
- (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
- Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
- Strong time management; ability to manage multiple workloads with successful results; ability to work independently; organizational skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, listening skills, problem analysis and problem resolution; above-average interpersonal skills; above-average computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office).
- Strong understanding of server-side technology, networking, operating systems, and specific applications, like enterprise job scheduler tools. Familiarity with database operations (e.g., SQL) is required and knowledge of application deployment tools.
Physical Requirements
Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Normal range of vision and hearing abilities required. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
Working Conditions
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
Mental and/or Emotional Requirements
Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
Work is generally performed within an office environment, primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Sedentary, sitting, standing, walking, occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use; standard office equipment available.
