S5 Analytics is seeking a Test Engineer to support the development, integration, and validation of mission-critical software solutions for Department of Defense and Intelligence Community customers. Working within a collaborative Agile environment, you'll help ensure system quality throughout the software development lifecycle by creating test strategies, executing validation efforts, and working closely with systems engineers and software developers to deliver reliable, high-performing solutions.
This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, improving testing processes, and contributing to complex cloud-based and mission-focused systems.
This position is contingent upon contract award.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test procedures, and validation activities throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with systems engineers, software developers, and technical leadership to verify system functionality and ensure requirements are successfully implemented.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and technical reviews.
- Support integration, verification, validation, and acceptance testing for mission software applications.
- Analyze test results, identify defects, document findings, and work with development teams to resolve issues.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of test processes, methodologies, and automation strategies.
- Interpret technical documentation, system requirements, interface specifications, and process workflows to ensure complete test coverage.
- Assist in planning integration and test activities across multiple development efforts.
- Maintain detailed documentation of test execution, results, and system performance.
- Learn new technologies and mission systems quickly while adapting to evolving customer requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Active Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI eligibility.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience supporting software integration, system testing, or verification and validation activities.
- Ability to develop detailed test procedures, test cases, and supporting documentation.
- Familiarity with modern software engineering methodologies and systems engineering principles.
- Experience supporting integration and test planning throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation, process diagrams, and system workflows.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a cross-functional engineering team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Eight (8)+ years of relevant experience supporting software or systems testing in a DoD or Intelligence Community environment.
- Experience working in Agile software development environments.
- Familiarity with automated testing tools and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with modern software development and test technologies, including Jenkins, Docker, Postman, GitHub/GitLab, Java, JavaScript, SQL, XML, JSON, and cloud environments such as AWS or C2S.
- Experience identifying opportunities to improve testing efficiency, quality, and repeatability.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated initiative, sound technical judgment, and a continuous improvement mindset.

The base salary range for this position is $135,400 - $229,700 annually, based on full-time employment in the San Diego, California area. The final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, qualifications, education, and market conditions.
