Position Overview
Our Test Engineers support end-to-end solutions, systems, and products for our customers. The team investigates and resolves product and solution problems in conjunction with other engineering and technical personnel. Candidates load software, configure, integrate, verify, and troubleshoot solutions in a lab environment or customer site using Oceus Network’s products, 3rd party products, and/or customized packages.
Candidate hiring tier (Staff, Senior, Staff Principal) will be determined during the interview process based on total years of experience, technical capability, and leadership scope.
Universal Position Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship
- Current secret security clearance (or ability to obtain a clearance)
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science/Telecommunications or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
Current U.S. Government Security Clearance is preferred
Techno-Functional Competency Requirements:

Core Technical Knowledge Requirements:
- Excellent knowledge of server, router, and switch installation and configuration
- Expertise with STIG, RMF, and secure implementation principles aligned to level of experience
Preferred Technical Skills:
Working knowledge of wireless technologies such as LTE and GSM is a plus.
Level Breakdown & Tiered Qualifications – Staff, Senior and Staff Principal levels
Staff (2-4 years)
- Experience: 2-4 years of engineering experience related to computer technology, telecommunications, or related systems testing roles.
- Skill Focus: Solid IP networking foundation; hands on experience with Cisco routing and switching at or near the CCNA skill level. Working knowledge of STIG, RMF, or secure system implementation principles, with willingness to grow expertise. Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially for documenting test results and explaining technical details. Ability to work effectively across engineering teams, manage multiple technical inputs, and support collaborative problem solving. Strong analytical and diagnostic skills with the ability to isolate root causes in complex systems. Broad understanding of telecommunications concepts, protocols, and integrated technologies.
- Responsibilities: Execute testing, validation, and troubleshooting activities for end-to-end customer solutions to ensure performance, reliability, and functional accuracy. Configure, integrate, and verify solution components in lab and onsite environments using Oceus Networks products, third party technologies, and customized packages. Support solution security and compliance activities by implementing STIG and RMF requirements under guidance from senior engineers. Work directly with customers and internal teams to gather technical details, communicate findings, and ensure issues are clearly understood by both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Contribute to knowledge sharing and team development by documenting test procedures, results, and best practices. Collaborate with project managers, engineering teams, vendors, and support personnel to meet delivery timelines and ensure high-quality technical outcomes. Partner with Oceus Customer Support to investigate escalated issues, reproduce defects, and help drive accurate, timely resolutions.
Senior Level (5-7 years)
- Experience: 5–7 years of engineering experience in computer technology, telecommunications, or related systems testing roles.
- Skill Focus: Strong IP networking background with hands on experience in Cisco routing and switching; CCNA level capability required, CCNP-level skills preferred for complex troubleshooting scenarios. Solid understanding and practical experience with STIG, RMF, or secure system implementation practices, with ability to independently apply and validate compliance requirements. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting test results, authoring technical procedures, and presenting findings clearly to diverse audiences. Demonstrated ability to work across multiple engineering teams, coordinate testing dependencies, and contribute to collaborative problem solving in fast paced technical environments. Advanced analytical and diagnostic skills with proven capability to isolate root causes in complex integrated systems and drive issues to resolution. Broad understanding of telecommunications concepts, wireless technologies, protocols, and integrated systems used across Oceus solutions.
- Responsibilities: Lead advanced testing, validation, and troubleshooting activities for end-to-end customer solutions to ensure high performance, reliability, and functional correctness. Independently configure, integrate, and verify complex solution components in both lab and onsite environments using Oceus Networks products, third party technologies, and customized packages. Drive security and compliance efforts by implementing STIG and RMF requirements, providing technical guidance to mid-level engineers, and ensuring test environments follow secure configuration practices. Serve as a senior technical resource for customers and internal teams, clearly communicating test findings, system behaviors, and root cause analyses to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Develop and improve test procedures, validation frameworks, and best practice documentation to enhance repeatability, consistency, and engineering efficiency across the team. Collaborate proactively with project managers, engineering teams, vendors, and cross functional partners to ensure testing milestones support delivery schedules and solution quality requirements. Work closely with Oceus Customer Support to investigate escalated issues, reproduce complex defects, and deliver accurate, timely resolutions while improving overall system testability.
Staff Principal (12-15 years)
- Experience: 12-15 years of engineering experience in computer technology, telecommunications, or related systems testing roles.
- Skill Focus: Expert level IP networking background with extensive, hands-on experience in Cisco routing and switching; CCNP level proficiency or equivalent practical mastery strongly preferred for highly complex, multi system troubleshooting. Deep, authoritative experience implementing and validating STIG, RMF, and secure system engineering practices across large scale or tactical environments, with the ability to define enterprise testing standards. Exceptional communication abilities, including executive level briefing skills, high clarity technical documentation, and the capability to translate intricate system behaviors for diverse technical and non-technical audiences. Proven expertise coordinating across numerous engineering functions and managing complex dependencies, with a track record of driving cross organizational alignment and influencing technical direction. Master level diagnostic and analytical skills, with the ability to isolate root causes in deeply integrated systems, anticipate risks, and formulate strategies that prevent recurring issues. Broad and deep understanding of telecommunications systems, wireless technologies (LTE/GSM), protocols, and integrated solution architectures used throughout Oceus supported deployment.
- Responsibilities: Provide strategic technical leadership for complex, multi-layer end to end solution testing, ensuring enterprise grade performance, reliability, interoperability, and mission critical readiness across diverse deployment environments. Architect and direct the validation of integrated solution stacks, overseeing advanced configuration, integration, and troubleshooting efforts involving Oceus Networks platforms, third party technologies, and customized components. Lead the definition, implementation, and continuous improvement of system security compliance strategies, including STIG and RMF, establishing organization wide testing security standards and mentoring engineering teams on best practices. Serve as the highest-level technical escalation point for customer engagements, providing authoritative guidance on system behavior, root cause analysis, and technical risk mitigation for both technical and executive stakeholders. Design and evolve advanced test frameworks, automation strategies, and validation methodologies to increase scalability, repeatability, and engineering efficiency across multiple programs and engineering groups. Influence program and product direction by collaborating with senior project managers, solution architects, vendors, and cross functional teams, ensuring that test engineering priorities align with organizational goals and delivery commitments. Drive resolution of highly complex or ambiguous system issues through systematic investigation, reproduction of mission critical defects, and partnership with Customer Support to enhance long term product supportability. Mentor senior and mid-level engineers, building technical depth across the organization and fostering a culture of excellence in test engineering, troubleshooting, and secure system implementation.
