Engineer the Tests That Prove Performance.
Galvion is seeking an experienced Test Engineer III to join our Advanced Development Engineering team. In this role, you will plan, execute, and document verification and validation activities for innovative, small, man-portable electromechanical systems.
You’ll work hands-on with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Program teams to develop robust test methods, troubleshoot failures, validate designs, and ensure products meet demanding functional, environmental, safety, and performance requirements.
What You’ll Do
- Develop comprehensive test plans, procedures, and acceptance criteria.
- Perform functional, performance, environmental, durability, and reliability testing.
- Operate electrical, mechanical, and environmental test equipment, including oscilloscopes, DAQs, battery analyzers, vibration tables, and thermal chambers.
- Analyze test results, troubleshoot failures, identify root causes, and support corrective actions.
- Validate embedded electronics, sensors, RF/communication modules, and mechanical assemblies.
- Support compliance testing to military standards such as MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461.
- Design and build custom test fixtures, jigs, and instrumentation.
- Maintain accurate test reports, defect logs, configuration records, and traceability documentation.
- Support prototype builds, engineering evaluations, and production transition.
- Improve test methods, data collection, automation, and reliability analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve testability, manufacturability, and long-term reliability.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience testing small, battery-powered systems; military or medical-device experience is highly desirable.
- Strong hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical test equipment and instrumentation.
- Understanding of battery-powered systems and associated safety considerations.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical documentation skills.
- Familiarity with environmental qualification testing and military standards.
- Knowledge of reliability tools such as FMEA, HALT/HASS.
- Experience with data acquisition systems and/or automated test scripting.
- A meticulous, detail-oriented, and quality-conscious approach to engineering.
