Position OverviewWe are seeking a Test Engineer to play a key role in engine development, fully on-site in Mossville, IL. This is a backfill of an important position responsible for the successful execution of the test plan. You will work alongside an experienced facility team and global engineers within a team of approximately 15 engineers spanning entry level to 20+ years of experience — supporting test operations, engine hardware validation, and performance/emission data analysis.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work on growing dual fuel development technology. Engineers who enjoy analytical problem-solving and hands-on work will find this position engaging and rewarding on a daily basis. A structured training process is in place to ease onboarding, and there is opportunity for schedule flexibility depending on test activities.
Key Contributions & Responsibilities- Support, direct, and mentor test cell operators running engine tests; regularly review the test plan look-ahead with senior engineers and prepare for engine and test cell setup.
- Troubleshoot engine and test cell issues effectively to minimize downtime and improve productivity.
- Coordinate with support function teams — including facilities, instrumentation, and mechanics — for timely issue resolution.
- Document test cell and engine hardware issues thoroughly and accurately.
- Attend daily standup and handoff meetings with the core team; provide updates, participate in troubleshooting discussions, help reach consensus on action plans, and communicate results to the technical team.
- You will work within a team of approximately 15 engineers ranging from entry level to 20+ years of experience, covering test operations, engine hardware validation, and performance/emission data analysis.
- Daily interaction includes standups, handoff meetings for continuous operations, and ongoing collaboration with experienced facility and global engineering teams.
- A structured onboarding and training process is in place to support a smooth transition into the role. Schedule flexibility may be available depending on test activity cycles.
- This is a fully on-site role in Mossville, IL operating in a fast-paced test environment.
- 2–4 years of relevant engineering experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
- Internship experience may be counted toward the required years of experience.
- Comparable backgrounds include roles in testing, data analysis, or hands-on experience with large diesel engines.
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills across complex engine and test cell systems.
- Analytical thinking with the ability to synthesize data and drive actionable conclusions.
- Accuracy and attention to detail in test documentation, data review, and hardware assessment.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical and/or electrical test setup and data acquisition equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Understanding of diesel engine operation and systems.
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as MATLAB, CANape, or DIAdem.
- Familiarity with emissions and measurement equipment such as Horiba, AVL, or Allen Bradley.
- Self-starter with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Enjoys a fast-paced, hands-on work environment; quick learner with sharp attention to detail.
