Functions:
- Review and approve test plans for power-electronic based systems; prepare product and equipment for test; execute test plans; gather, compile and summarize data; generate test reports/results
- Troubleshoot and repair product as required.
- Construct test equipment according to specified requirements.
- Maintain, troubleshoot and repair production test equipment.
- Provide recommendations and documentation to product designers on design improvement.
- Train engineers, field service technicians and new hires on product test, operation of test equipment, and testing safety.
- Direct outside subcontractors as required.
- Meet production goals.
- Make decisions regarding safety and quality.
- Take lead in Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) activities with Manufacturing and Engineering.
- Direct manufacturing personnel regarding product quality issues.
- Recommend tools, test equipment and safety supplies and initiate requisition for purchase.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education - Experience:
- 2-year Associate Degree in Electronics or equivalent.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of hands-on experience in the manufacturing or R&D environments.
Required Skills, Competencies, Authorities and Training Needs:
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair PCB circuits, small-scale electrical systems and large-scale electrical systems using fundamental concepts.
- Knowledge of the control and operation of IGBT- and Thyristor-based power-electronic power system products.
- Demonstrated understanding of test methods for product test using currents up to the 5,000A range and voltages up to the 100,000V range.
- Demonstrated awareness of electrical hazards, usage of PPE and safety procedures.
- Able to work independently and provide solid decision making.
- Skill in use of manufacturing and electronic test equipment.
- Computer literate in word-processing, spread-sheet and presentation-preparation programs
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly both orally and in writing.
- Able to lift 75 pounds or exert 75 pounds of force on a regular basis.
- Tasks often involve long periods of standing.
