About the Role
We are looking for a Systems and Applications Specialist I to work with our scientists and researchers within our Institute of Molecular Medicine, who utilize both Macs and PCs. This employee provides support and lends technical expertise to departments and users for software, applications, security, and systems issues. You must be able to work with a variety of hardware and software, and be an adept troubleshooter as well as a customer service-oriented professional. This role acts very much like a traditional desktop support person, but works in a medical and academic environment with hundreds of users. Experience supporting both Macs and PCs is required.
This is an on-site position. This role will require someone with hands-on Apple (iMac, MacBook, iOS) experience in a support setting. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to join Apple devices to a Microsoft Active Directory domain, as well as connect networked shared printers and network drives to these devices. The ideal candidate will understand the Mac and the Microsoft environments and how they interact across networks and with peripherals.
This person will be a full-time employee eligible for all UTHealth Benefits, including great healthcare coverage and a pension administered by the State of Texas. You will need to be able to report daily to our Fayez S. Sarofim Research Building, located on Pressler Street in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. This is not a remote role, and it is classified as exempt.
