The Amazon Leo for Government (ALG) Engineering organization is a multi-disciplinary technology team established to rapidly address the needs of targeted government and international customers with specific solutions that have the potential to scale. ALG Engineering leads the development and delivery of targeted and scalable solutions for custom space and terrestrial applications. ALG collaborates closely with Amazon Leo to leverage the constellation of advanced satellites to provide seamless and efficient communication capabilities to meet the needs of our customers. The ALG Engineering team is seeking highly technical and talented individuals who are passionate about creating unique solutions that result in a positive impact on a global scale.
The System Integration & Test (I&T) Engineer will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary team to design, integrate, and test innovative product solutions. The System I&T Engineer will work closely with colleagues throughout Amazon Leo’s inter-disciplinary team and collaborate with key partners and suppliers to ensure our system exceeds customer expectations. The System I&T Engineer must be responsive, flexible, innovative, and able to succeed within a collaborative, fast-paced, and dynamic environment.
As a member of the ALG Engineering Systems Engineering, Integration, Test, and Manufacturing organization, the System I&T Engineer will be responsible for developing the architecture and executing the design, build, and validation of test systems for complex systems and subsystems. The candidate will have the capabilities to develop test procedures, test software, test scripts, APIs, and automation to enable test and verification at various products levels including but not limited to system-on-chip (SoC) calibration algorithm verification, test automation and data analysis for electronics, opto-mechanical/opto-electrical subsystems, and system level tests including environmental tests. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the test architecture supports all aspects of the integration, test, verification, and validation of one or more of the following: the satellite bus, RF payloads, optical payloads, custom ground terminals, or custom user terminals. This includes testing, analyzing, and optimizing the test support equipment to the particular satellite or ground element being developed. Testing efforts include functional and performance testing through various environmental conditions as required and it will be the candidate’s responsibility to ensure the test systems enable efficient test execution and requirements verification.
The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in space and ground systems design, integration, and verification across the development lifecycle. This candidate should enjoy taking ownership over complex problems and delivering well-executed results of high-quality and can work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that provides significant autonomy to be creative in devising and verifying various engineering approaches to meet technical and programmatic requirements.
Key job responsibilities
• Provide System and Software Integration and Test leadership to one or more of the following: the satellite bus, RF payloads, optical payloads, custom ground terminals, or custom user terminals.
• Provide system-level test design technical expertise to one or more of the following products and services: satellite bus, RF payloads, optical payloads, custom ground terminals, or custom user terminals.
• Specify and develop end-to-end payload or sub-system integration and test plans and procedures to validate performance against customer and/or partner requirements
• Create test algorithms, test scripts, automation and calibration routines for test systems as part of performing lab and field evaluation of integrated satellites, bus, payloads or sub-systems
• Analyze system and software test data and engage with cross functionally with teammates, partners, suppliers, or customers to evaluate the product performance and provide proactive feedback on potential improvements.
• Architect, design, and validate test software and hardware for mechanical, optical, and electrical support equipment necessary to enable test execution and requirements verification
• Prepare reports documenting test results, test coverage, performance results and other key performance indicator (KPI) metrics, and communicate issues effectively with developers and managers
• Effectively manage and track to closure test anomalies, defects, and bugs; Debug, root-cause, and make continuous improvements of control systems in a high-rate production environment

These solutions are tailored to meet the needs of government and international customers for both space-based and terrestrial applications. The Systems Engineering, Integration, Test, and Manufacturing organization under ALG Engineering plays a vital role in the entire life cycle of the development of an engineering solution, including architecture development, requirements and interface definition through assembly, integration, and test (AI&T), verification, and post-delivery and operational support. Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or equivalent
- 8+ years of experience in space vehicle, bus, RF payload, optical payload, or ground terminal integration and test or related industry experience, with focus on system and software integration and test
- 8+ years of experience developing space or communication system test requirements, plans, and procedures for system and software design verification and validation.
- 6+ years of experience developing code in C, C++, Matlab, LabVIEW, Python, Docker, Rust on Linux platforms and experience with industry standard coding practices
- 5+ years of experience building complex test systems including integrating test software
- Experience with testing satellite communications payloads, optical communications payload, spacecraft bus and constituent subsystems, space vehicle, or ground terminals
- Hands-on experience with spacecraft integration, flatsat testing, hardware-in-the-loop testing, or mission operations
- 5+ years of experience in the use of standard electronic lab test equipment (i.e. network analyzers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, function generators, multimeters, etc.) Preferred Qualifications: - Master's degree or above in engineering, physics, or equivalent
- Computational problem solving and test automation/optimization in one or more of the following: Python, Matlab, LabVIEW, C/C++, Docker, Rust on a Linux platform.
- Experience working in cloud infrastructures (AWS) with strong working knowledge of IPv4/IPv6 subnetting and L1-L6 networking
- Experience in development, integration, and commissioning of satellite communication systems
- Experience with development of automated test systems
- Experience writing end to end integration and test plans
- Experience with incoming calibration checks and developing calibration procedures
- Experience developing, executing, and reviewing formal acceptance/qualification test results
- Proficiency with software development and hardware integration related to satellite payloads or ground systems
- Experience system engineering space and/or ground systems development efforts including meeting cost, schedule, and performance goals.
- High sense of ownership, urgency, and drive; resourceful, and able to deliver results with minimal direction
- Excellent oral and written communication and leadership skills with strong sense of ownership and drive
- Experience in working directly with government officials and regulatory bodies
- Experience as the technical lead, leading groups of engineers and managing resources in integration and test campaigns
- Experience in embedded software or FPGA verification
- Experience with design or test of circuit boards with complex microcontrollers, system-on-chip (SOCs), or FPGAs

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
