Job Description: Systems Administrator III (Linux & Windows)
Location: Marshall Space Flight Center – Huntsville, AL Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 Days On-site / 2 Days Remote) Salary: $90,000 – $100,000 Annually
The Mission
Join the team powering the NASA Ground Systems Operations (NASCOM). This role is critical to the NASA Mission Network, ensuring that data flows uninterrupted to and from the International Space Station (ISS), James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), Hubble, and the Artemis program. You will be the backbone of the communications services that connect NASA customers worldwide.
The Role
We are seeking a Senior-level Systems Administrator with a deep background in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Windows Server, or a strong mix of both. You will lead efforts to design, monitor, and scale a secure environment that supports high-consequence satellite missions.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Mission Critical Support: Ensure day-to-day operations of servers and systems, managing faults and performance for the e-root architectural environment.
- Architectural Leadership: Design scalable and secure software layers; identify gaps in the environment and engineer permanent solutions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a lead consultant for database admins, programmers, and network engineers to meet rigorous application requirements.
- Monitoring & Automation: Develop custom solutions to monitor, notify, and automatically correct system anomalies.
- Innovation (IR&D): Lead research and development efforts to identify new technologies, communicating progress directly to Senior Program Management.
Requirements
- Citizenship & Clearance: U.S. Citizenship is required – Please Don’t Apply If this criteria is not met. Active Public Trust Clearance is a very strong preference.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (Strict Requirement).
- Experience: Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in Linux (RHEL) or Windows Systems Administration.
- Technical Depth: Comprehensive knowledge of virtualization, cloud integration, and automated maintenance.
