The IT Support Technician student work position works closely with our Information Technology staff to provide tier 1 support for faculty, staff, and students.
Education & Experience Requirements
Education required:
- Must be an enrolled JALC student, with a minimum of 6 credit hours in the fall and spring semesters
- Must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
- Have a high school diploma
- Have a FAFSA on file with the Financial Aid office
Other requirements:
- Must have familiarity with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office software
Essential Functions & Position Duties
- Provide technical support assistance for campus faculty, staff, and students
- Analyze and problem-solve various computer and/or peripheral issues
- Distribute, install, set up, troubleshoot, and inventory computer systems, telecom equipment, network equipment, and audio/visual equipment in accordance with standard procedures.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills and patience to handle a variety of situations and personalities.
- Describe computer issues and solutions through data entry into our ticket tracking system
- Follow directions and work independently on tasks and projects
- Desire to learn new tasks that range from simple to complex
- Be dependable, prompt, and a team player
- Be available to work some evenings and weekends, if needed
Non-Essential Functions of the Position
Other duties as assigned. Duties must be performed on the John A. Logan College campus or designated location.
