The IT Support Technician student work position works closely with our Information Technology staff to provide tier 1 support for faculty, staff, and students.


Education & Experience Requirements

Education required:

  • Must be an enrolled JALC student, with a minimum of 6 credit hours in the fall and spring semesters
  • Must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Have a high school diploma
  • Have a FAFSA on file with the Financial Aid office

Other requirements:

  • Must have familiarity with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office software


Essential Functions & Position Duties

  • Provide technical support assistance for campus faculty, staff, and students
  • Analyze and problem-solve various computer and/or peripheral issues
  • Distribute, install, set up, troubleshoot, and inventory computer systems, telecom equipment, network equipment, and audio/visual equipment in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and patience to handle a variety of situations and personalities.
  • Describe computer issues and solutions through data entry into our ticket tracking system
  • Follow directions and work independently on tasks and projects
  • Desire to learn new tasks that range from simple to complex
  • Be dependable, prompt, and a team player
  • Be available to work some evenings and weekends, if needed


Non-Essential Functions of the Position

Other duties as assigned. Duties must be performed on the John A. Logan College campus or designated location.
