Full job details
Since 2012, Rightsline has been making work easier for rights and royalties professionals with our innovative rights and royalties management software, allowing our customers to maximize their portfolios without having to max out their daily to-do-lists.
Our fully integrated and configurable platform provides customers with comprehensive access to all their rights and royalties, across all markets and platforms, instantly. Departments can communicate, collaborate, and cohesively take action without worrying about mistakes; and in-app reports and timely alerts ensure our customers never miss an opportunity to do more.
The Position
Rightsline is looking for a Senior QA Engineer to join our Quality & Experience team and take real ownership of the quality bar for our platform. Reporting to the Manager of QA and based in  Toronto, Ontario on a hybrid-basis, you'll work closely with Engineering, Product, and the wider Quality team — bringing a meticulous, logical approach to testing and coding, sharp communication skills, and a genuine drive to solve hard problems. Experience testing enterprise software is a strong plus, and a real appetite to learn and adapt is essential.
Mission & Impact
As a Senior QA Engineer, you'll be one of the biggest drivers of quality across Rightsline's platform — interpreting feature requirements, designing and executing test cases, and owning the automated testing strategy that keeps our releases fast and dependable. This role is central to building the most comprehensive, intuitive, technology-forward platform for managing intellectual property, and you'll do it alongside a team that's just as invested in getting it right as you are.
What You Will Own
Test Ownership & Execution
Own the quality of key features end to end — from interpreting requirements through functional, regression, and smoke testing for your assigned Scrum team
Evaluate and test change requests to confirm the software meets defined requirements before it ships
Investigate issues uncovered during testing, get to the root cause, and update tests so they catch it next time
Test Automation & Engineering
Design and build clean, lean automated tests using the Playwright framework to cut out repetitive manual work
Keep the test repository healthy — readable, maintainable, and well-organized — through regular refactoring
Review pull requests promptly to raise our code quality bar and keep projects moving
Research, pitch, and implement new tools that make our testing sharper and more efficient
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Partner daily with Engineers, DevOps, Product, Support, and Business Analysts to keep quality embedded in how we build
Drive ongoing improvements to our QA processes, not just follow them
Communicate implementation issues, delays, and mitigation plans clearly and early
Support scheduled releases and, on occasion, urgent after-hours patches to keep the platform running for our customers
Mentor fellow QA team members on automation best practices
What You Must Have
Ownership of  the software testing life cycle (STLC) end to end
Strong object-oriented programming skills, including asynchronous JavaScript
Seasoned experience with load and performance testing tools such as JMeter and BlazeMeter
High proficiency with Git version control
Proven experience testing as part of an Agile/Scrum team, partnering with engineers to shape testing strategy throughout the sprint
What You Will Bring
5+ years of QA automation experience, having owned the software testing life cycle (STLC) end to end
Expertise designing, building, and debugging automated test suites, with 5+ years testing REST/API services using Postman
5+ years writing, executing, and reporting on manual and automated test cases — smoke, sanity, functional, integration, and regression
Working knowledge of web application and relational database architecture
Proven track record building and maintaining release pipelines, and managing deployment schedules, risks, and impediments
Familiarity with bug-tracking tools such as Jira and TestMo
Solid grasp of Scrum and Agile development methodologies
Strong adherence to stylistic and architectural repository standards
Nice Haves:
 Experience testing enterprise software
 Familiarity with AWS CodeBuild
Exposure to Cypress in addition to Playwright
Working knowledge of Angular or React
Our Core Values
At Rightsline, we look for these qualities in every hire, and we hold ourselves to them every day.
Be Curious and Smart
Being smart isn't about having all the answers — it's about asking the right questions, seeking out new ideas, and never assuming you already know enough.
Embrace Change
This industry moves fast and so do we. We don't resist change — we lean into it. That means staying flexible, letting go of what isn't working, and treating uncertainty as opportunity rather than obstacle.
Show Up
Showing up means being present — not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. Your teammates count on you. Your customers count on you. We do our best work when everyone is fully engaged and accountable to each other.
Get it Done
Ideas are easy. Execution is the job. We hold ourselves to what we commit to, push through the hard parts, and measure success by our actual accomplishments.
Be Humble
Nobody here has a monopoly on good ideas. We listen more than we talk, share credit freely, and check our egos at the door. The best outcome matters more than whose idea it was.
Equal Employment Opportunity
Rightsline is an equal opportunity workplace. All candidates will be afforded equal opportunity through the recruiting process. We do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, gender identity and/or expression.
