We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to provide network design, engineering, implementation, and operational support for a highly secure enterprise IT environment.
The Senior Network Engineer will design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot complex LAN/WAN environments, site-to-site VPNs, point-to-point and point-to-multipoint connections, firewalls, and secure network communications paths. This position will also support network architecture, data flows, firewall rules, encryption devices, and multi-level security environments.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on networking experience and the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues while developing engineering solutions that improve performance, security, reliability, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, engineer, implement, and maintain enterprise LAN and WAN environments.
- Design and support site-to-site VPNs, point-to-point, and point-to-multipoint network connections.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues, including port security, VLAN configurations, connectivity issues, and network outages.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot firewalls and network security devices.
- Configure, key, maintain, and perform software upgrades on TACLANE encryption devices.
- Manage network activities, data flows, firewall rules, and secure communication paths.
- Develop network topologies to securely deliver content and data from specific providers to end users.
- Provide technical recommendations and implement approved engineering solutions.
- Develop engineering designs and plans for the installation, integration, testing, maintenance, expansion, and upgrade of network environments.
- Conduct network engineering studies to determine requirements for bandwidth, data throughput, security, reliability, and communications paths.
- Investigate and evaluate new network technologies, systems, and upgrades that can improve capabilities, efficiency, reliability, or cost effectiveness.
- Develop integration plans, including implementation schedules, resource requirements, and cost considerations.
- Develop and implement secure network communication paths for remote data sources.
- Support network systems and associated infrastructure, including servers, storage, and backup systems.
- Prepare and maintain network engineering documentation, technical manuals, network diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Communicate network status, technical issues, recommendations, and proposed solutions to technical and program leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a field applicable to the position and six (6) years of relevant experience.
- An additional four (4) years of relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.
- Experience designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex LAN/WAN environments.
- Experience with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of firewalls.
- Experience keying and upgrading software on TACLANE cryptographic devices.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, firewall packet filtering, and proxy filtering.
- Experience troubleshooting VLANs, port security, network connectivity, and network outages.
- Strong network engineering, analytical, and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Must be DoD 8570 IAT Level II compliant by the date of security indoctrination, including any required Continuing Education (CE) requirements.
Desired Qualifications
- CCNP certification.
- Experience working within multi-level security domains.
- Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining General Dynamics TACLANE or other cryptographic devices.
- Experience supporting networks utilizing Radiant Mercury multi-level security appliances.
- Experience designing and supporting secure network communications across environments with varying security classifications.
Security Clearance
Candidates must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with a CI Polygraph.
