Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our growing team as a Sr Infrastructure Engineer - Axway MFT!
About the role
Responsible for the design, migration, administration, and support of the enterprise Managed File Transfer (MFT) platform, including Axway SecureTransport in both on-premises and cloud environments. This role ensures secure, scalable, and highly available file transfer services, with a strong focus on cloud transformation and AWS-based infrastructure.
What you will do
- Administer, maintain, and support Axway SecureTransport (on-prem and cloud deployments)
- Lead and support migration from on-premises MFT platforms to Axway Cloud
- Manage and optimize MFT infrastructure hosted on AWS
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of file transfer services
- Monitor systems, respond to incidents, and perform root cause analysis
- Perform system upgrades, patching, and enforce security compliance standards
- Execute change management processes and support release activities
- Design and implement secure file transfer solutions and integrations
- Automate operational tasks and improve system efficiency
- Develop and maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, cloud architects, and vendors

Compensation
Salary Range: $128,700 – $214,600 plus eligibility for annual bonus programs
Who you are
- 5+ years of experience with Axway SecureTransport administration
- Hands-on experience with Axway SecureTransport Cloud (or Axway MFT cloud offerings)
- Proven experience supporting or executing on-prem to cloud migration initiatives
- Strong working knowledge of AWS services, such as:
- EC2, VPC, S3, IAM
- Load balancing (ALB/NLB)
- Security groups, networking, and routing
- Solid experience with Windows Server administration
- Expertise in file transfer protocols (FTP, SFTP, SCP, HTTP/S, SMTP)
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, routing)
- Strong knowledge of security concepts (PGP encryption, key management, access controls)
- Experience with monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support
- Scripting/automation experience (Shell, XML, BPML, or similar)
- Experience designing and supporting cloud-native or hybrid architectures
- Familiarity with Axway cloud migration tools and best practices
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks
- Experience with high availability and disaster recovery design in AWS
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
- Customer-focused, service-oriented mindset
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- High school diploma required
