Leidos is seeking a talented Software Test Engineer to work in our Huntsville office. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience to help test software for Tactical strike guided munition programs.

​This position focuses on automated testing, development of robust, innovative software test infrastructures and frameworks, integration testing, informal manual testing, formal software qualification testing, fielding and support, and maintenance of software products. Software products range from analysis tools/simulations, mission planning software, and components of mission-critical systems.  

Primary Responsibilities

• Involves direct participation as an integral team member who performs key roles with respect to test planning, test strategy and design, test execution, software engineering processes, and recommendations on product quality.
• Involves reviewing, editing, and generating various documents used for engineering and testing purposes per industry standards. 
• Involves learning from more senior test engineers while also mentoring less experienced test engineers.
• Involves communication with software developers and other team members on a frequent basis.

Basic Qualifications

• Candidate must possess at least a bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree with an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Candidate should have 4+ years of relevant technical experience with BS degree or 2+ with MS degree.
• Candidate must be a U.S. citizen and be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance.
• Relevant technical experience must include testing and/or troubleshooting embedded software or embedded-adjacent applications that interface with, operate, monitor, support, simulate, control, or communicate with embedded systems.
• Must be a resident of North Alabama or willing to relocate to the Huntsville-North Alabama area.
• Experience performing software test on multi-disciplinary projects.
• Have a proven track record implementing an automated software testing solution.
• Candidate must demonstrate ability in software development in either C#/.NET, C, C++, Java, Python, or Ruby programming languages.

Preferred Qualifications

• Automated testing experience on embedded systems.
• Experience writing user interface (UI) tests with automated UI testing technologies.
• Experience with applicable industry standards (IEEE 12207, CMMI, MIL-STD-882e, DO-178C and/or DO-278, RMF).
• The ability to work across multiple products under development by multiple small teams.
• Knowledge of Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) principles and application
• Experience with containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and microservices technology.
• Knowledge of guidance & control algorithms.
• Knowledge of navigation systems.
• Knowledge of mission planning systems (NOMS, JMPS).
• Knowledge of sensors used in guidance, navigation, or mission planning systems.
• Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML.
• Proficiency with testing MATLAB/Simulink generated code is a plus.
• Understanding of hardware-software integration and software systems engineering principles
• Agile Scrum Master experience a plus.
• Great communication skills with ability to present to senior leadership and government customers.
