Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Special Programs, the SOCRATES System Administrator position supports the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) SOF AT&L PEO-C4 to provide SOCRATES System Administration, networking, and desktop surge support to the SOCRATES PMO, USSOCOM HQ, Components, and TSOC’s J6 and J2 organizations, both CONUS and OCONUS.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting SOCRATES PMO, HQ J63, Components and TSOCs in critical workstation replacements, mandatory Win 11 transition, evolutionary technology insertions, network/systems integrations, expansion efforts, 2-Factor Authentication integration, troubleshooting, coordinating site visits, and Unified Communications (desktop voice and VTC) migration with Jabber.
- Performing routine maintenance on desktop IT infrastructure.
- Work on help desk tickets at levels 1, 2, and 3, ranging from user problems and setups to complete system and network integrations.
- Designing and installing network segments, Local Area Networks, and network connections and cabling.
- Performing troubleshooting to system failures and identify bottlenecks to ensure long term efficiency of network
- Testing and configuring software and maintain and repair hardware and peripheral devices
- Perform troubleshooting and repairs for all IT-related issues, for CONUS and OCONUS Users.
- Potential Contingency Operations Support resulting in personnel working OT, deploying, and/or working various shifts (i.e. 12 hours and 12 hours off or 7 days on and 7 days off)
Education & Experience Requirements
Education
- IT related degree preferred
Experience
- Over 3 years of work-related experience with DoD customers.
Certifications
- Mandatory: Security +
- Desired: A+, Network +, Microsoft or Cisco Certified Network Associate
- Must possess a Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to communicate with people with various levels of technical knowledge
- Diagnostic and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot problems and find solutions
- Proficiency in IT Desktop computers, software and database systems
- Proven experience as network technician or relevant position
- Outstanding diagnostic, problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols and network technologies
- Hands-on experience with common software and hardware
- Dexterity when handling manual repairs and tests
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

Work Environment
- Work is regularly performed onsite at MacDill AFB or other DoD installations in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment.
- Standard Hours of Operations. 8:00AM – 4:30PM Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, except federal holidays or when the government facility is closed due to local or national emergencies, administrative closings or similar government directed facility closings.
- Telework. Shall be permitted as allowed by the Government on a case-by-case basis for the convenience of the government to meet mission requirements of the Government.
