Position Overview
Zedcor is hiring a senior-level Windows Server and Linux server infrastructure engineer. This is a hands-on server and infrastructure engineering role — the successful candidate will have deep, demonstrable experience building, hardening, patching, monitoring, and operating Windows Server and Linux server environments in production, alongside private Microsoft Azure, IoT, and hybrid infrastructure. This role supports Enterprise IT, Enterprise Cybersecurity, and the organization's SaaS product platform. It requires strong hands-on experience with private Azure architecture, including private networking, Private Link, private endpoints, private DNS, VPN connectivity, routing, segmentation, and non-internet-facing workloads
Key Responsibilities
- Engineer, harden, patch, and operate Windows Server environments, DNS, DHCP, certificate services, failover clustering, and Hyper-V.
- Engineer, harden, patch, and operate Linux server environments (e.g., Ubuntu, RHEL), including OS hardening, package and patch management, system services, and security baseline enforcement.
- Design, build, and support private Azure
- Build and maintain four or more Azure environments for Enterprise IT, Cybersecurity, SaaS product, production, development, testing, disaster recovery, and regulated workloads.
- Implement private-by-default Azure architecture using Private Link, private endpoints, private DNS, VPN, segmentation, controlled routing, and restricted access paths.
- Design and manage Azure networking, including VNets, subnets, NSGs, route tables, peering, VPN Gateway, private DNS, internal load balancing, and firewall controls.
- Ensure Azure workloads are not unintentionally exposed to the public internet.
- Support Windows Server, Linux, IoT, Azure Arc, Azure Local, and hybrid infrastructure.
- Configure and maintain Azure Backup, Recovery Services Vaults, backup policies, restore procedures, and disaster recovery support.
- Maintain architecture diagrams, network diagrams, change records, backup evidence, monitoring evidence, and operational documentation.
Qualifications & Requirements
Preferred Requirements
- Required: Strong hands-on Windows Server engineering experience (server builds, DNS/DHCP, clustering, hardening, patching) as a primary job function.
- Required: Strong hands-on Linux server engineering experience (server administration, hardening, patching, scripting, troubleshooting) as a primary job function.
- Required: Private Azure architecture experience, including Private Link, private endpoints, private DNS, VPN, private routing, and segmented non-internet-facing workloads.
- Required: Current residence in the Houston, Texas metro area and ability to work full-time on-site in Houston, Texas.
Minimum Requirements
- Strong Azure networking experience, including VNets, NSGs, routing, peering, VPNs, segmentation, and hybrid connectivity.
- Experience supporting IoT or connected infrastructure devices.
- Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Defender for Cloud, Azure Backup, Azure Arc, and Azure Local.
- Experience working in highly regulated environments.
