About the Role
The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for the Engineering and Optimization of the regional network backbones and corresponding venue networks. This person will also define, document and enforce network standards. Furthermore, the Senior Network Engineer will engage directly with network equipment suppliers to keep abreast of new developments that could benefit Gigstreem.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Carry-out the following tasks for individual projects as assigned:
- Augment network design concepts as necessary
- Configure all network elements comprising the network design concept
- Turn-up & test new network & corresponding services (e.g. Internet access)
- If required, assist in the execution of vendor evaluations for new network components culminating in a vendor recommendation. This includes the creation of a vendor analysis and decision document
- Lead/execute Proof of Concept (POC) tests in the laboratory to validate network design concepts and/or custom software solutions as needed. This includes the creation of a test plan and results document
- Create and maintain technical relationships with vendors providing network components to Gigstreem. This includes staying abreast of new hardware platforms or new features on existing hardware platforms that could benefit existing or future clients
- Develop and hone necessary skills associated with IP networking in order to perform effectively and advance to senior technical levels
- Interact with various inter and intra departmental peer groups to cooperatively achieve best results in all assigned tasks
- Execute assigned tasks within assigned timeframes and budgets. May work with and take direction from project managers to ensure completion as necessary
- Provide guidance/ mentor less experienced agents/technicians
- Performs all other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or industry equivalent professional certification (preferred)
- Certified Wireless Network Professional (CWNP) certification preferred
- Proficiency with MikroTik and Juniper Networks products required
- Experience as a leader within a service provider Network Architecture or Network Engineering group
- Flexible schedule is required to include nights, weekends and some holidays; as needed to perform after hours turn-up and/or maintenance activities
- Excellent organizational, verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills with a high degree of attention to detail
- Above average problem-solving and critical thinking skills

Pay Range: $90,000 – $110,000
