Overview:
The Senior Infrastructure Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, high-performing network infrastructure. This role supports business operations by troubleshooting network issues, improving reliability, and partnering with IT teams to deliver dependable connectivity solutions. This position will work on a hybrid schedule at our Hartford, CT. office and may require occasional evening or weekend work to support critical maintenance, upgrades, or incident response.
Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, and deploy LAN, WAN, and wireless networks that meet business and technical requirements.
- Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements that strengthen efficiency, resiliency, and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network hardware, software, and connectivity issues in a timely and effective manner.
- Support network security through firewalls, VPNs, access controls, and related protocols that help protect data and systems.
- Maintain accurate documentation for network configurations, standards, processes, and change activity.
- Collaborate with IT teams, business stakeholders, and vendors on network projects, upgrades, and operational improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in network engineering or similar infrastructure role.
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-scale networks.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and core network protocols.
- Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or comparable network hardware and management tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to produce accurate technical documentation.
- Industry certifications such as Cisco: CCNA/CCNP, or CCIE, Juniper JNCIP/JNCIE, Palo Alto PCNSE, F5, Aruba, CompTIA Network+/Security+ are preferred
- Experience with cloud networking, virtualization technologies, and hybrid infrastructure environments is a plus
- Working knowledge of network automation and scripting tools such as Python or PowerShell are a plus
Compensation:
This range represents the minimum and maximum annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. The actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range. The base pay is based on factors including but not limited to experience, competence, and demonstration of proficiencies essential for the role. The base pay is just one component of Talcott’s total annual compensation for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, long-term incentives and recognition.
