Blue Origin is pioneering the future of space-based communications with TeraWave, a revolutionary satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This multi-orbit constellation will consist of optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations worldwide.

Blue Origin is seeking a Sr. EGSE Automation Test Engineer to join the AI&T team on the Terawave program. In this role you will own the test automation framework for HIL verification, lead development of automated test scripts and regression suites, and ensure the framework is architected for deployment and qualification on the production line. You will be the technical anchor for test automation and mentor the automation test engineering team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Own and maintain the test automation framework; ensure extensibility, robustness, and readiness for production line deployment and qualification.

• Develop, review, and execute automated test scripts and regression suites for HIL verification; drive coverage improvements and reduce manual test burden.

• Create data-driven test sequences optimized for production cycle time and test coverage efficiency.

• Debug and triage automation failures; implement improvements to test robustness and repeatability.

• Develop training materials and deliver knowledge transfer sessions to production test engineers on automation tools, scripting practices, and framework operation.

• Support qualification of automated test suites as production line acceptance test methods.

• Mentor Automation Test Engineer team members; review their scripts and technical contributions.

• Coordinate with EGSE Software Engineers on framework integration, software interface requirements, and tool releases.

• Interface with VTB and Electrical Test teams on test coverage, automation priorities, and bench integration.

• Participate in design reviews and provide test automation and DFT feedback.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.

• 7+ years of experience in test automation, embedded software testing, or hardware-in-the-loop test development.

• Proficiency in Python; experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks and regression suites in a hardware test context.

• Experience integrating automated test systems with hardware interfaces (serial protocols, data buses, or analog I/O).

• Demonstrated ability to design test frameworks for maintainability, reusability, and scalability.

• Experience with nonconformance management, anomaly disposition, and corrective action processes.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to brief test automation status and architecture to program leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience on a spacecraft, launch vehicle, or defense electronics program with automated acceptance testing.

• Background with GSEOS, COSMOS, LabVIEW, NI TestStand, or similar ground test software frameworks.

• Experience with LabVIEW or NI TestStand for hardware-in-the-loop test development and automated functional test sequences.

• Experience qualifying automated test suites for use as production acceptance test methods.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated regression frameworks for embedded or hardware-in-the-loop systems.

• Background with data bus protocol testing (SpaceWire, CAN, MIL-STD-1553, RS-422) via automated test scripts.

• Experience developing technical training for production test personnel.

 

Base Pay Range for:

CO applicants is $144,179.00 - $201,849.90
WA applicants is $156,802.00 - $219,522.45
