JOB SUMMARY
The Security & Help Desk Support Specialist plays a key role in supporting our security program and providing hands-on IT help in our West Des Moines and surrounding offices. You will flex between security work and field services based on what the business needs are. If you like solving problems, helping people, and improving how things run and efficiencies, this role may be for you. This role reports to the Director of Infrastructure & Security.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES
- Help run day-to-day security work across identity, devices, and phishing defense, with clear documentation
- Support Microsoft Entra ID tasks such as access reviews, group access cleanup, and least-privilege improvements
- Support Microsoft Defender and Intune work that keeps devices secure, compliant, and up to date
- Help run KnowBe4 phishing simulations and security awareness activities
- Track results and suggest improvements
- Assist with security investigations when needed, including collecting details, preserving evidence, and documenting what happened
- Update runbooks and internal documentation so our work is consistent and easier to scale
- Provide on-site IT support in our West Des Moines and nearby offices for infrastructure support and field services work
- Help with laptops, printers, meeting room setups, and common connectivity issues
- Set up and deploy devices, peripherals, and standard office technology
- Support Intune enrollment and compliance ensuring devices stay protected and meet company standards
- Troubleshoot issues that touch both devices and the network, and bring in Network Engineering when deeper changes are needed
- Use ServiceNow for ticketing, documentation, and clear handoffs. Maintain notes that support auditability and repeatable operations
- Follow change control practices for planned work, including verification steps and rollback readiness
- Treat sensitive data as sensitive by default and apply minimum necessary handling when working with PII and PHI
- Support compliance readiness by maintaining documentation and evidence appropriate for a regulated insurance environment
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)
- A combination of education and experience generally attained through an Associate’s degree (in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Networking, or related field strongly preferred), and a minimum of 2-5 years of IT support, endpoint management, and/or security experience
- Strong troubleshooting skills in a Windows-first end-user environment, including hardware, software, and office technology
- Working knowledge of security fundamentals including MFA concepts, least privilege, endpoint protection, phishing defense, and incident response basics
- Strong ability to prioritize competing work, communicate clearly, and document actions and outcomes
- Ability to travel to other offices as needed and occasionally work evenings and weekends when necessary
- Experience supporting Intune device lifecycle workflows, compliance policies, and application deployment is preferred, but not required
- Experience supporting Microsoft Defender operational workflows such as investigation support, remediation, and reporting is preferred
- Familiarity with Entra ID access reviews, Conditional Access concepts, and role-based access patterns is preferred
- Certifications preferred but not required. Working toward Network+, Security+, and/or CISSP is a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Perform under normal office conditions; may include lifting/carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds
- Twist, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, stand, walk, and reach frequently
- Hear, speak, and effectively verbally communicate in the English language, including following oral and written instructions to communicate with people inside and outside of the organization
- Sit and a desk for extended periods of time and perform long hours of work sitting at a computer
- Move around office/building/facilities repeatedly throughout the day
- Apply manual dexterity, visual acuity and ability, for computer keyboarding, office equipment uses, review of detailed reports, information, fine print, and warning labels
- Must possess valid driver’s license and be able to travel to different North Risk Partners locations for meetings, as well as various locations throughout the state and potentially the region for client meetings
- Able to work a flexible work schedule, including overtime, nights, and weekends to attend events and meetings as needed
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Incumbents must be able to use telephones, calculators, copy machines, computers, printers, and other office equipment

The work environment is primarily indoors. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This estimated base salary range for this full-time position is $69,00 - $85,000 annually, plus benefits. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The hiring range represents the company’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
