The QA Engineer Automated 3 will support the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. This role is responsible for designing and executing automated test scripts to validate software functionality, applying independent judgment to plan and prioritize testing activities across moderately complex systems. The engineer will develop test plans, test cases, and execution strategies while interpreting requirements documentation to keep test documentation current. This position requires strong collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders throughout the testing lifecycle and a working knowledge of software development methodologies.
Responsibilities:
- Design and build automated test scripts that execute testing functions without manual intervention.
- Prioritize test scenarios and develop execution plans to carry them out.
- Create test plans, test cases, and prepare test environments for execution.
- Perform functional, application, and regression testing on moderately complex systems.
- Apply knowledge of the software development life cycle and applicable development methodologies.
- Interpret requirement documents and update test documentation accordingly.
- Support analysis, planning, and management reporting functions related to testing activities.
- Develop working knowledge of the customer's business within the assigned area.
- Collaborate with the customer as needed throughout the test cycle.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical groups while managing multiple concurrent responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:
- 8 years of experience designing automated tests by creating scripts that run testing functions automatically.
- 8 years of experience prioritizing test scenarios and creating execution plans to implement these scenarios.
- 8 years of experience creating test plans, test cases, and preparing test environments.
- 8 years of experience performing moderately complex functional, application, and regression testing.
- 8 years of knowledge of the software development life cycle and software development methodologies.
- 8 years of experience interpreting requirement documents and updating test documents accordingly.
- 8 years of experience with analysis, planning, and management reporting functions.
- 8 years of experience acquiring knowledge of the customer's business in an assigned area.
- 8 years of experience demonstrating strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- 8 years of experience working with the customer as needed during the test cycle.
- 8 years of experience demonstrating analytical, problem-solving, team playing, and oral and written communication skills.
- 8 years of experience working successfully with technical and non-technical groups while managing multiple responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience with Texas DIR Project Delivery Framework and document templates.
- 2 years of familiarity with the organization's information architecture and information management methodologies.
- 2 years of familiarity with existing and planned software technology and related software architecture and infrastructure components.
- Experience testing healthcare applications.
- Experience with Katalon software.
Additional Requirements:
- Candidates and vendors may be required to satisfy criminal background checks as authorized by Texas law.
- Candidates must currently reside in Texas; out-of-state candidates planning to relocate will not be accepted.
Work Location and Schedule:
- Location: 701 W 51st Street, Austin, TX 78751.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding state holidays; work outside normal business hours, including weekends and evenings, may be required as needed.
- Work Arrangement: Hybrid, on-site and telework.
