Production Test Engineers (PTE) are part of a manufacturing team who support the test process through one or more phases of the product life cycle, including product development, transition to production, sustained production and depot activities.  A PTE validates and ensures compliance of the prime hardware to technical data package requirements and supporting test equipment.  Interns will support the troubleshooting and problem solving of test failures while identifying opportunities in test processes to improve efficiency, yields, and capacity.  


What You Will Do

  • Support the validation of new or modified test equipment for production use
  • Ensure the operation of test equipment and associated work instructions are accurate
  • Ensure test equipment and software meet the test requirements specified for the product
  • Monitor and improve the test process through analysis of predictive metrics of trends, failure modes, and test yields
  • Perform preliminary investigation of problem resolution
  • Maintain changes to the test equipment technical data package which includes drawings, test instructions, test position manuals, and system software
  • Assist in non-routine fault isolation, diagnosis and repair of the product or test equipment
  • Lead root cause and corrective action investigations and present findings


Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Development or related STEM major obtained by start date
  • Experience with Test Equipment
  • Experience in a Defense Manufacturing environment
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

*Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

  • Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

  • This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending time in and around factory areas.

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
