Overview
AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a 100% employee-owned federal government contractor, is seeking a talented Network Engineer to leverage their expertise in designing and implementing integrated, scalable on-premises platforms in support of our government customer in Chantilly, VA.
Responsibilities
As a Network Engineer with AMERICAN SYSTEMS, you will have the opportunity to:
- Collaborate with systems architects to design, implement, and optimize customer networks IAW ICD 503
- Design and deploy functional networks (e.g. LAN, WLAN, WAN)
- Investigating and resolving operational problems.
- Working on teams responsible for engineering and packaging releases
- Plan and lead network projects for network installation and upgrade
- Responsible for all network data transport (Layer 3 and below) and overall network traffic routing
- Manage IP address space allocation and track IP address permanent assignments
- Create and implement network security measures (access authentication, STIG implementation, etc.)
- Design, configure, deploy, and maintain firewalls.
- Monitor syslog events and implement changes to improve security posture.
- Work with systems administrators, cyber security officers and CNDSP
- Assist cyber security officers to collect and report information required during RMF A&A activities.
- Conduct regular network performance tests.
- Resolve escalated network support issues and document resolution
- Research and analyze new network technologies and present suggestions for upgrades for network
Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI Clearance w/current Polygraph required
- U.S. Citizenship required for the purposes of obtaining and maintaining a clearance
- Bachelors degree and 5-7 years of relavent networking experience
- DoD 8140 IAT II Level certification (e.g. Security+ CE, GSEC, CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, CND, SSCP)
- At least 5 years working with Juniper and Cisco routers and switches, firewalls deployment, configuration, and migration
- Working knowledge of virtualization and cloud platforms, services, architectures/ designs, and best practices
