A Brief Overview
The Network Engineer 1 is responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of Stormont Vail's LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi.
Education Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Experience Qualifications
2 years IT experience with desktop, server, security, or network infrastructure. Required
Skills and Abilities
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and technical procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, peers, internal customers, and the general public. (Required proficiency)
Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. (Required proficiency)
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
Certified Network Associate - CISCO Preferred
What you will do
Maintain documentation, diagrams, and inventory of network infrastructure and security devices, components, and systems.
Log and track requests for assistance in a trouble tracking/ticketing system, and handle routine, tier I, network escalations from the Help Desk.
Manage all internal and external IP and DNS addressing.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain access layer networking devices and infrastructure.
Monitor and assist with core networking devices and infrastructure.
Engages carrier and/or vendor support as required for timely problem resolution.
Setup and maintain communication closets, racks, and power protection equipment.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain 802.11x wireless infrastructure and client devices.
Demonstrate customer service mindset and ability to work effectively as a team with Help Desk, Systems Engineers, IT Security, and Application staff.
On call for, network, and wireless infrastructure incidents and outages. While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to work evenings, nights, and weekends, and may be required to travel to remote facilities.

Develop design proposals, recommendations and justifications for new systems or upgrades & improvements to existing solutions.
