Job Summary:

The IT Technician provides technical support to employees at the main office and branch locations. This role helps staff resolve computer and technology issues, sets up equipment for new employees, and ensures technology is working properly throughout the organization. This position is ideal for someone starting their IT career who enjoys helping people, solving problems, and learning new technologies.

The duration of this contract is 6 months, July to December 2026. The incumbent is required to work a minimum of 32 hours per week.  


Essential Functions:

Technical Support

  • Provide basic technical support to staff in person, by phone, or remotely.
  • Assist with computer, printer, phone, email, and software issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve common hardware and software problems.
  • Escalate more complex issues to senior IT staff when necessary.
  • Assist employees with video meetings, shared drives, printers, and other office technology.

Equipment Setup and Maintenance

  • Set up and configure computers, laptops, printers, phones, and other devices.
  • Install software and perform updates.
  • Prepare equipment for new employees and collect equipment from departing staff.
  • Keep track of IT equipment and maintain accurate inventory records.

Network and Systems Support

  • Help troubleshoot internet and Wi-Fi connectivity issues.
  • Assist with password resets and user account management.
  • Support cybersecurity efforts by helping users follow security best practices.
  • Ensure IT equipment is secure and functioning properly.

Branch Office Support

  • Visit branch offices as needed to provide technical support.
  • Assist staff with technology issues and equipment setup.
  • Report recurring technical problems to the IT department.

Documentation 

  • Record support requests and resolutions.
  • Maintain basic documentation for equipment and software.
  • Assist with IT projects and technology upgrades.

General

  • Must comply with all regulations
  • Ability to respect and communicate effectively with co-workers and managers
  • Adheres to agency and departmental regulations, policies and procedures


Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate degree, technical training, or coursework in Information Technology preferred.
  • Experience providing IT support, help desk support, desktop support, or related technical assistance.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, email, printers, and mobile devices.
  • Basic understanding of computer networks and Wi-Fi.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and troubleshoot problems.
  • Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple tasks.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to move throughout office locations and lift or move computer equipment when needed.
  • Ability to travel to branch locations as required.

 

Reporting Structure:

  • Network Systems Administrator
