POSITION SUMMARY
The IT Support Technician plays a key role in supporting the daily operation of technology systems across the organization. This entry-level, hands-on position is responsible for providing timely, reliable technical support to internal users while helping maintain a stable and efficient IT environment.
This role serves as the first point of contact for technical issues, ensuring that employees receive responsive, clear, and effective assistance. In addition to troubleshooting, the IT Support Technician supports equipment setup, inventory management, and basic system maintenance.
Working closely with the IT Operations Manager, this position contributes to operational continuity by ensuring systems, devices, and tools are properly configured, maintained, and supported. This role provides a strong foundation for growth in IT, with exposure to a wide range of technologies and processes.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
• Serve as the first point of contact for employees experiencing technical issues
• Troubleshoot and resolve common hardware, software, and connectivity problems (e.g., printers, email access, system errors, network issues)
• Provide clear, step-by-step guidance to users with varying levels of technical experience
• Escalate more complex or unresolved issues to senior IT staff while ensuring proper follow-through
Equipment Setup & Deployment
• Set up, configure, and deploy computers, laptops, monitors, phones (VoIP and mobile), and peripherals
• Prepare equipment for new hires, replacements, and upgrades
• Ensure systems are properly configured according to company standards and security requirements
System Maintenance & Support
• Perform basic software installations, updates, and system configurations
• Assist with maintaining operating systems and productivity tools
• Support basic network connectivity and workstation performance
IT Inventory & Asset Management
• Maintain accurate records of IT equipment and assets
• Track hardware assignments, replacements, and inventory levels
• Assist with audits and ensure proper organization of storage areas
• Help manage spare equipment and parts
Workplace & Infrastructure
• Workplace & Infrastructure Support
• Assist with cable management, desk setups, and office equipment moves
• Support office relocations and workstation reconfigurations as needed
• Maintain a clean, organized IT workspace and storage environment
Documentation & Process Support
• Document support tickets, resolutions, and recurring issues
• Follow established procedures and contribute to improving documentation
• Assist in maintaining consistency in IT support processes
Working Conditions
• Primarily office-based role at OSI headquarters with regular collaboration across finance, operations, and leadership
• Occasional exposure to manufacturing and operational environments to support business understanding
• May require sitting, standing, walking, bending, and lifting parts or materials up to 50 lbs.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate degree or coursework in IT, computer science, or related field is a plus but not required
• Previous experience in IT support, help desk, or technical troubleshooting is helpful but not required
Skills & Competencies
• Basic knowledge of Windows and/or macOS operating systems
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office or similar productivity tools
• Strong customer service mindset with clear communication skills
• Ability to explain technical concepts in simple, understandable terms
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow processes
• Reliable, organized, and able to manage routine tasks effectively
Physical & Work Requirements
• Comfortable performing hands-on technical tasks
• Ability to lift and move equipment as needed
• Willingness to work in both office and light operational environments
