Who We Are
Allied is an Environmental Solutions Company serving 10,000+ customers nationwide across Medical
Waste Disposal, Hazardous Waste, Medical Supplies, Secured Document Shredding, and Solid Waste
and Recycling services. We were recently ranked #16 on the 2024 Utah 100 list of the fastest-growing
companies, made it onto the Inc5000 list, and we’re just getting started.
We move fast, think big, and care deeply about doing things the right way. Our team is made up of
people who are problem-solvers, team players, and builders at heart. If you like working with great
people, improving processes, and being part of a company that is growing quickly, Allied may be the
place for you.
About the Role
We’re looking for an IT Specialist to be our first in-house technology resource. Until now, our IT
support has lived with outside partners and with team members wearing extra hats. This role brings it
in-house, which means you’ll be the person our team turns to when something isn’t working, and the
person helping us build the systems and standards we’ve outgrown.
This is an entry-level role, so we’re not expecting a long resume. We’re looking for someone who is
genuinely curious about technology, willing to learn quickly, and who takes pride in being responsive
and dependable. You’ll get hands-on experience across hardware, accounts, security, and our full tech
stack, with real ownership from the start and support from leadership as you grow into it.
What You’ll Do
Hardware and Workstations
• Set up, configure, and deploy laptops, desktops, monitors, and peripherals for new hires and
replacements.
• Troubleshoot day-to-day hardware issues and coordinate warranty claims or repairs with vendors.
• Maintain printers, scanners, label printers, and conference room and AV equipment.
• Track company technology assets, including who has what, warranty status, and when equipment
is due for replacement.
Accounts, Email, and Domains
• Manage user accounts, email setup, distribution lists, shared inboxes, and permissions.
• Own onboarding and off-boarding checklists so new team members have what they need on day
one and access is fully removed when someone departs.
• Help maintain domain records, DNS, and email deliverability settings in coordination with our
providers and marketing team.
• Monitor and respond to email security issues such as phishing attempts, spam, and suspicious
login activity.
Tech Stack and File Management
• Provide first-line support and administration for our core systems, including HubSpot, Slack,
Google Workspace, and other business applications.
• Maintain shared drive structure, folder permissions, and naming standards so information is easy
to find and appropriately restricted.
• Track software licenses, renewals, and seat counts, and flag unused subscriptions or opportunities
to reduce cost.
• Support basic integrations and data flow between systems, escalating more complex work to
vendors or partners as needed.
Security, AI, and Standards
• Help implement and enforce basic security practices, including multi-factor authentication,
password management, device standards, and access reviews.
• Support responsible use of AI tools across the company, including access, approved tools,
guardrails, and helping teams use them safely and effectively.
• Help ensure our handling of sensitive customer and employee information aligns with company
policy and applicable requirements.
• Support data backup and recovery practices, and help us prepare for issues before they happen.
Support and Documentation
• Serve as the first point of contact for technology questions and troubleshooting requests across the
company.
• Track requests, follow through to resolution, and communicate clearly about status and timelines.
• Write and maintain simple documentation, how-to guides, and standard procedures for common
tasks.
• Coordinate with outside vendors, internet providers, and managed service partners when issues go
beyond what we handle internally.
• Help identify recurring problems and suggest improvements rather than solving the same issue
over and over.
What You Bring
• Genuine interest in technology and a willingness to learn quickly, including things you haven’t done
before.
• Strong troubleshooting instincts and comfort working through a problem step by step.
• Familiarity with Windows and Mac computers, common business software, and basic hardware
setup.
• Exposure to Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, or a CRM such as HubSpot is a plus.
• Clear, patient communication skills and the ability to explain technical things to people who are not
technical.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple requests at once without losing track
of any of them.
• Good judgment about what to handle yourself and when to ask for help or escalate.
• Discretion when working with sensitive company, employee, and customer information.
• A team-first mindset and willingness to jump in where needed.
• Coursework, certifications such as CompTIA A+, internships, help desk experience, or hands-on
personal experience are all a plus. A degree is not required.
The Details
• Location: Allied headquarters in Pleasant Grove, Utah. This is a fully in-office role.
• Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday.
What Makes You a Great Fit
You’re the kind of person who likes figuring things out. You’d rather learn how something works than
wait for someone to tell you, and you follow through until a problem is actually solved instead of just
quieted down. You’ll do well here if you enjoy being the person people count on, if you’re comfortable
saying “I don’t know yet, but I’ll find out,” and if you like the idea of helping build something from the
ground up rather than stepping into a system that already runs itself.
Why Allied Environmental
At Allied, you’ll be joining a growing company with a strong team culture and a lot of momentum. We
care about doing excellent work, supporting each other, and building systems that help our team and
customers succeed. This is our first in-house IT role, which means you’ll have unusual visibility, real
ownership, and the chance to shape how technology works here as we continue to grow.
