Job Title: IT Manager (Cybersecurity & Compliance Focus)

Job Summary

Hose-McCann Communications is seeking an experienced IT Manager to lead and maintain a secure, compliant, and high-availability IT environment supporting both commercial and U.S. Government defense-related programs. This role is responsible for cybersecurity posture management, infrastructure leadership, and regulatory compliance, including alignment with CMMC Level 2, NIST SP 800-171, and export control requirements (ITAR/EAR).

Key Responsibilities

Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Maintain and enforce controls aligned with CMMC Level 2 / NIST SP 800-171
  • Manage Microsoft 365 security stack (Intune, Entra ID, Defender)
  • Lead vulnerability management, patching, and incident response processes
  • Ensure compliance with ITAR/EAR handling requirements for controlled data and systems
  • Maintain cybersecurity policies, procedures, and audit evidence for assessments

Infrastructure & Operations

  • Oversee and maintain network infrastructure (firewalls, switches, VPNs) – Fortinet, Cisco, or equivalent
  • Manage on-prem and cloud systems (Windows Server, Azure, backup, DR)
  • Administer identity and access management (IAM), including MFA and least privilege enforcement
  • Ensure system availability, monitoring, logging, and performance optimization

Risk Management & Audit Readiness

  • Conduct regular risk assessments and remediation tracking
  • Support internal and external audits (CMMC, ISO, customer requirements)
  • Maintain asset inventory and configuration management baselines
  • Document and maintain SOPs for IT and cybersecurity processes

Leadership & Support

  • Lead IT projects, vendor management, and procurement decisions
  • Provide technical guidance and support to staff and end users
  • Translate cybersecurity requirements into practical business practices

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years in IT administration with hands-on cybersecurity responsibilities
  • Experience with:
    • Microsoft 365 (Intune, Entra ID, Defender)
    • Firewalls/VPNs (Fortinet, SonicWall, Cisco, etc.)
    • Windows Server / Active Directory environments
  • Working knowledge of NIST SP 800-171 or CMMC requirements
  • Experience with secure network design and endpoint management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in defense, maritime, or government contracting environments
  • Familiarity with ITAR/EAR compliance and handling controlled data
  • Certifications such as Security+, CISSP, CISM, or Microsoft security certifications
  • Experience with SIEM/logging, EDR, and vulnerability tools
