About the Role
Join an early-stage healthtech AI team as its founding backend engineer, building the distributed systems behind clinical and healthcare payment workflows. You will own core infrastructure end to end and establish engineering patterns that support the team as it grows.
What You'll Do
Build and scale backend systems for clinical data processing, claims, authorizations, denials, and payer and provider integrations.
Develop browser and computer-use automation for navigating electronic health record software and payer portals.
Design reliable systems for scanned charts, PDFs, structured claims, unstructured notes, and operational data at high volume.
Build orchestration, queues, retries, and observability for long-running workflows across healthcare systems.
Partner with research and product engineers to bring clinical AI capabilities into production.
What We're Looking For
At least 3 years of backend engineering experience, focused on complex systems and infrastructure.
Strong Python, microservices, and distributed systems experience, with a track record of owning backend architecture end to end.
Experience scaling infrastructure in a technically demanding environment, such as data infrastructure, fintech, or a related field.
Experience with production LLMs or machine learning, and ideally data pipelines, workflow orchestration, large datasets, or complex integrations.
A CS, mathematics, or related degree, strong engineering fundamentals, and experience in fast-paced startup environments.
Interest in early-stage company building and growing into team leadership while contributing to technical direction.
Current US work authorization is required.
